Hacksaw+falco comes up empty on a search

Package arrived this morning so i decided to see if it would fit. Well it wouldnt without some *ahem* modification

Ended up doing no work and spent all day in the garage.

Cant decide if it 'works' or not? ( the seat definately winds me up )

If the colour matched the bike's red I think it would work.

I think the tail is too low (albeit nice) needs to be level with the tank IMHO

I like the tail (but you won't be needing those pillion pegs).

Not entirely sure about the seat but it probably looks better for real than in a picture.

What's that ribbed stuff you've got wrapped around the back of your tank?

I'd like to see a proper side shot of it all, the oblique look makes the back look very unbalanced (imo), the exhausts don't complement the rear hump either when viewed like that.

I'd have the exhausts tucked up under the rear panel anyway, then you can see and clean the bike properly :smt003

Why twin crash bungs each side?

I'm sure someone was saying its a no no in a crash and before you say I don't do crashes why waste money fitting them if thats the case ?

I do like that bike. Very clubracer hardcore scratcher. The tail looks great

I will try and find a pic of an MZ racebike with an RS250 tail end (I used to have an RS250 tail spare, but gave it away with the racebike)

In my humble opinion, your bike'd look brill with an RS 250 droop tail. It's a Cafe racered Clubman special by all accounts, I think that tail'd set it off well. It'd be 'bent' to those heathens who dont understand, but I really think it'd make a cool and very retro chic statement.

Its a race seat from an 04 rsv off ebay. My seat unit was cracked and the hump wouldnt clip to the base so was held together with tank tape. Very fetching :smt012 It came in silver with number boards already on for £50 and seeing as I cant get a paint match on the tank anyway was just gonna leave it for a few TDs

Its almost level with the tank but the front paddock stand holds the bike higher than the back stand. I cant get any side on piccys cos of the amount of crap limiting backing-up space :smt016
I hadnt heard about 2 pairs of bungs being worse than 1 gio , just the argument for and against them with no middle ground. Hopefully will protect rads and engine casings, rest is disposable.

You can see the remains of my subframe on the floor falcomonkey :smt003 cut off down to the arch just behind the seat. The undertray is made from the side of a pc case cos i couldnt find any plastic big enough.

Its built on a budget d-rider so the pegs will get replaced when i make/beg some hangers (notice my spinky new rearsets courtesy of John1000) and the tank covering is stompgrip (£33) from californiasuperbikeschool.co.uk or something. You dont have to grip the tank just rest your leg on them and they grip you. Ace


Tis a work in progress and probably wont get much more done before 22nd. The falco seat doesnt line up with the rsv hump so thats to sort and its a lot shorter, ie doesnt hide as much down the side to the tank but i'll sort that. I might put the top fairing back on but i'll have to fabricate a bracket as I'm going to Cartegena at christmas for 5 days on the track and its a dam fast one.

I'll try and get some photos next to a standard falco to make it easier to compare, but all criticsims critisisms critasisms welcome :smt002

Oh and kwakerz, those seat units suck :smt003 Look like theyve been in the oven and melted

:smt002 Heathen... :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 I agree. But it's what all the fast racebikes are wearing.. The pics didnt fully show what I meant and yes a badly fitted one does look like your description. a decent one though looks much more purposeful than one of those Factory ones!! :smt002

Looks good with the Factory tail tbh.

Yup, Ive heard it. Jorge (Renegade) used to mention it to all the Aprilias that used to come into the Dyno wearing em. Seen a pic that backed it up.. think it was on RSVR.net or similar, but damned if I can find the thread

I've heard about it too, basically the bike may start flipping and rolling instead of *safely* sliding.

Yea i heard that aswell, but the number of bungs dont matter, just if it has them.

From what I can gather if youre sliding on tarmac then use bungs but if you head for the grass then quickly remove them. I keep a 10mm allen key in my pocket just for these moments.

Fortunately I dont go fast enough to worry about getting to the grass, it'll be destroyed before it leaves the tarmac :smt003

Hi Pierre,

I think it looks good and probably kept you out of the pub for a few hours.

And when you come to paint it remember its all in the preparation, three or four pints should do it.

And Kwackerz those Mz racers look neat too, tucked in and flying..........
