Mirrors

#1 Post by del_tl1000r » Mon Aug 07, 2023 9:07 am

Fitted blind spot mirrors to the tapped stubs on the bars. Been riding road bicycles for about 44 years now so neck isn't as flexible as it used to be. Thought these might make things a tad easier for me. Before anyone says it, I will still be having a look before changing lanes! Unfortunately after fitting them I was sitting on the bike, stand up, positioning them, forgot the stand was up and promptly dropped it🤬 Minimal damage thankfully. Snapped clutch lever, smashed indicator and small scuffing to upper screen. It could have been a lot worse. Raging!!!!

Sorry to hear about the unwanted floor/bike meeting. I'm sure we've all done similar. That's a very interesting solution to a tricky problem - I can honestly say I'd never have thought of that.

Are you aware that Aprilia RS125 mirrors are styled almost identically to Falco ones, but have a crucial extra width, meaning you can see past your elbows/shoulders? You need the 2008-2014 model year versions, as they are the ones with the longer stems. For me they made a very significant improvement. There was a time when you could pick them up for cheap, not sure if that's still the case or not.

No I wasn't aware of that. I'll have a look into that👍 Really angry with myself for dropping it. There wasn't a mark on the bike either. Only had the bike for about 6 weeks too. I think I've done this, or something similar with every bike I've owned. Well once it's back on the road I'll see if the mirrors work or if all I can see are my knuckles. Should have the parts by Friday hopefully. Touch up paint arrived yesterday.

Yeah, can understand your annoyance. I'd be spitting feathers for a week or so. Hopefully the touch up paint will hide the damage.
