It begins... (Rear Brake)

#1 Post by zoidberg » Tue May 04, 2021 5:50 pm

I'm not new to the Falco, I've had one before and loved it and ended up with another 7 years later.

Anywho, the one I have has been laid up a while so I thought I'd do some due diligence and change the fluids before going out proper.

I knew the back brake was going to give me a headache so I set aside an afternoon for it.

It's doing my head in. I have a vac pump which I have used many times to bleed brakes, including my old Falco. This one won't have it. It's retaining a vacuum in the system. Has anyone had this before? I've given up for today and will pick it up again at the weekend. Where I'll isolate components and see if one has a blockage. Weird thing is, it was working pre fluid change, the fluid was just more water than brake fluid

That's a weird one. I'd go full on kitchen sink and strip the caliper and as much of the master cylinder as possible. And blow through the brake hose with an air line. Sounds like something is sticking and acting as a one-way valve.

I reverse bled it and it now works fine. A bit of shit must have been blocking it up. Was a strange one.

Good stuff. I know how frustrating it can be when bleeding brakes and it's just not happening.

Rear master is usually worth tearing down, easy to do and its surprising how much crap gets in there.
