So the winter fettling is now over. As usual, my intention to do just one or two jobs turned into some bigger jobs, and some I hadn't tackled before so I learnt something along the way too.
Wheels out, tyres off and bearings pulled
Acid bath and new powder coat, new bearings and tyres
Inspected front brake pads to find horribly uneven wear.
Calipers off and split, cleaned up and new piston seals all round.
New titanium disc bolts
Rear brake not too bad but caliper looked grubby compared to my shiny fronts, so off with the caliper, split and new seals. (saga ensued in order to get the bolts out of the caliper (thanks BEA Systems)
New braided rear hose and pads. Followed by the tedious job of bleeding the rear brake line. Guidance on here and the AF1 site proved very reliable and helpful, thank you.
Oil and filter change
Coolant drained and refilled - still not convinced I've filled it with the required amount but I've done all the burping I can manage. We'll see if she overheats on the first long road test.
I do love my Falco.
MOT next week, so fingers crossed.
