I'm off-line for a few weeks... (squeamish look away)

Here's a nice pic of the bike at the tour's halfway point on the Hardknott, having been already around the Peaks, to be followed by the Lakes, Dales and N.York Moors.
However, the happiness came to an abrupt end after over 1000 miles and a zero mph car-park slippage incident at the very posh Bourton on the Water with just 80 miles to get home..
Bike tipped to the right, just past the balance point and I didn't quite get out of the way quickly enough.
Damage to me: broken big toe, some tarsal bones, tarsal ligament separation and the bonus prize - a lower fibular 'T' fracture.
Damage to the bike: Bodywork nil, but oil cooler pipe fractured somewhere.
I guess 2/3 weeks before pain free walking with a boot, and 6 weeks before fully fixed. I'm not Rossi.

It's his foot that's knackered

Blimey Greg - top marks for selflessly throwing yourself under the bike to minimise damage to it. I'm not sure your foot would thank you for it though...
Get better quickly and heal completely. You don't have to come off at speed to crock yourself up (as you already know)...

Cheers guys..
I've got a scan scheduled for next Tuesday - I saw the x-rays properly at my GP's this am (I was a little concerned about the blisters) and the fractures are obvious, but rather than having all my long toe bones nice and straight and pointing forward, it's obvious that everything's been shoved significantly to the right so they are all curved now... that's where the ligament damage is ...

Make sure you are seen by a foot specialist. I've found out my wrist was fixed by a knee surgeon, right crock of crap, so now waiting for a date to meet my wrist man.

Just a thought, but did your dotcor say anything about seeing a physiotherapist?

Ouch - so close to home but so far away. Better than happening at the beginning of your break ... hang on .... poor choice of words .... tour - but far worse than not happening at all.
It'd leave me hopping-mad.
Heal well

Hopping mad is an understatement. I was so miffed I could barely walk. After all, it was hardly a blistering pace was it?
