There may be trouble ahead .....

Both yesterday and today I noticed a bit of an oil-burning smell when I fired up the Falco.

I'm guessing that the most likely cause (before I go exploring valve stem oil seals, rings, etc) is the slipper clutch diaphragm.

I had a plan to get one "in stock" before investigating to save having to open it up twice (once to investigate and once to fix it).

Having looked it up, it seems to be about 5 times the cost I was thinking it might be .... so I guess the plan to just get one is not so sensible.

...... that is unless anyone has found a cheap source ......

I doubt it, but just in case ..... :smt002

Pulled the clutch cover off when I got home tonight. The diaphragm has a 15mm split in it.
Managed to get on to Griff before he trundled off home and he has a 2nd hand one in stock that he'll send out tomorrow.
That'll keep me going while I look out for a discounted new one.

Good luck. I'd just spent £900 on my BB. seems the previous owners hadn't done things that should have been done :smt009

Haha .... well I can try blaming the previous owner .... but not so easy as I've had the bike since new.
Rubber part failing after 12 yrs is not too big a disaster - the tyres didn't last that long!

12 years thats amazing, at least now I'll be able to get the other jobs on the bike done easier, like delinking the brakes and the suspension, I think I'll sorn it until next year as obviously it'll be half a new bike and now with plenty of time to maybe add a few extras on :smt003.

Falco still not fixed as the diaphragm still hasn't arrived ... at least I've now got the Futura (commuted on it today - much better than the Falco for that duty)
