Noob questions about my new (to me) Falco...
Holaa..
1) Mine's a 2000 bike - does it have a transponder key?
2) Is there an alternative air filter element available, maybe a car one that's about the same size...?? Has anyone investigated replacing the paper element with foam??
Cheers
Greg

Hi Greg,
1) No. No Falco has a 'magic' key with a transponder in it.
2) The stock filter element is not that expensive from eBay, etc. As FlatLander said, there's a K&N option as well.
Cheers,
V

It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.
What they all said !
The easiest tune up mods are dropping to a 15t front sprocket and a Forza or Gabro Eprom, these will give you a massive improvement in thrashability for less than £100.
You can spend a lot more than this on air filter/air box mods and get nowhere near the gain the sprocket and chip will give you.
Good write ups on all of the above

well, I had the first ride today, just a quick 20 mile sprint around Holt and Horton, but it certainly left me grinning like a loon .!
I can see how the 15t front sprocket would be useful, that top gear is awfully tall isn't it!
On the shopping list so far is:
Sprocket
Chip (Which one though?)
K&N Air Filter
Mille swing-arm
New rear shock
Unscathed top fairing (on its way from the Bay)
to do list:
Refresh forks
Bit of a clean
Spray the replacement top fairing to match (if I can be arsed)
Live with the scrapes until next year (if I can't be arsed to do the above)
Happy chap!

I have a gabro chip in mine, to be honest I never noticed a massive improvement, it is certainly better and makes the bike smoother, but not night and day.
The biggest improvement came from the 15 tooth front sprocket which made a huge difference, I kept getting caught between 1st and 2nd on mini roundabouts, but 15t transformed it.

You should have no hassle with the key as long as the blank is on the money.
A new chip will give you better starting, smoother tick over and better acceleration, Both Forza and Gabro are excellent, the general consensus is that the Gabro is a little punchier, the stock chips seem to vary between ok and good, running stock at the mo, blew an ECU up with the Gabro in it after doing about 7 miles (severed earth on the reg/rec), will put the Forza back in as the starting/tickover and oomph will be improved.
The Forza will be the cheaper option and not a bad place to start.
Read Flatlander's write up, really good bit of work, and change the front cog for a totally fixed grin
