Im getting ready to change all the seals, the bearings look good for a few more miles, so Im wondering is lithium grease the best type of lube to use as I dont want to repeat this in a hurry.
My plan is to use lithium grease on the bearing and pivot pin with red rubber grease on the outside of the seal as an added keep the crap out layer, if anyone can see a flaw in my plan please say so ..

Can't fault your plans; I'm sure what you have in mind will do a fine job. But recently I've started using this product in exposed locations, especially suspension linkages and wheel bearings etc.:

It is supposed to outperform standard lithium grease, while providing ACF-50's legendary corrosion inhibiting properties. I bought a tub a while back and use it on all areas where corrosion can be a problem.

I know bog all about lubricants but the go to stuff in the shed is a tub of Castrol lithium grease that I've had for years and a tube of red rubber grease that I bought when I rebuilt the brakes on my old kwak. Both seem to do their job well enough.

I've also got some RS components silicon grease, mostly coz work had a lot of it just lying about.

Watch those bearings, I ended up with them attached to myself, every exposed surface in the kitchen and next doors cat. Might want a clean scrape the bearings into this container container.

Yes those little needle bearings are like the inmates of Stalag Luft III - desperate to escape... Silicon grease is good stuff - use it on everything from brakes to plumbing fittings, especially those with O-rings. Don't think it would work too well on suspension components, though.

EP2 grease is lithium based and we use this on all bearings at work.

The bearings we used are under extreme pressure, so the right lubricant is required.

Thanks for the info, the ACF stuff looks like a good one to have in the toolbox, next generation grease !
I stuck with my original plan as the rubber grease will be needed in other fettling jobs
