...saying oil level very low and very oily engine.

I thought that provided it's on or above the Min mark while the engine is running then everything is fine. Am I right?

There has always been a fair amount of oil on the engine. It's blowing out from somewhere - not a huge amount as I don't have to top it up very often and not so much that it drips on underneath.

When I get around to fitting the new tank I should probably clean it up and see where it's coming from. What are the usual suspects?

Mine is usually about an inch above the 'min' mark. Any more and it just ends up in the airbox anyway.

Cam chain tensioners, airbox oil overflow, oil cooler pipes and oil tank/sump plug would be the first suspects.

Cam cover where the sensor cable crosses the gasket I found to be prone to leaking.

I wouldn't be surprised if the MoT station don't know how to check the oil level.

Following a number of Aprilia-related facebook pages, it seems half the owners don't know either (though clearly not those of the Ridersite Facebook page)

Ive got an annoying drip onto the header pipe directly under the coolant tank, nothing obvious with a quick glance, any ideas?

Leaving your flies undone?

Does anybody know how much oil there is between the min mark and the top of the site tube?

I cant give you a specific quantity but it would seem around the 100's of ml.
When I do an oil change I always end up going from below minimun to around max in a quick pour of the oil can
