Falco half way down!

I stepped out my girlfriend's house on Sunday afternoon to find the Falco had decided she was tired and was taking a nap against the wall. The side stand bent by the MOT tester finally collapsed (after 4 months and a fair amount of deliberate abuse to see if it would collapse which, at the time, it didn't).
Her dad propped it on a paddock stand and later that evening was kind enough to chop out the bent part and weld in a piece of steel bar so I was able to ride home. Absolute top bodging
Damage was limited to scrapping the back of the mirror as it was twisted right round against the wall and some scratches on the corner of the screen above where the fairing ends. Very lucky..
I have a replacement stand sitting on the shelf but haven't had any time at all to try to fit it. This is now a priority.
Is there anyway of restoring the plastic finish on the mirrors? Maybe some sort of black plastic filler that can be sanded down smooth?
