Hello all long time no post from me but, still lurking! Thought I'd post on the Falco section as well as the Fut to gather more opinions.

It's time for a new chain and sprockets on the Fut. However, when I bought the bike, the previous owner gave me a new chain that he'd bought but never used. It's a Triple S 'O' ring which is still wrapped and boxed.

Does anyone have any experience - good or bad - with these chains? It isn't a brand I've ever used and I'm a bit wary but, maybe I'm just being paranoid?!

Any help appreciated.

Never had any dealings with this type of chain. I prefer DID 525 on my bikes. Don't ask me why I just like them.

As in regards to the chain you have been given.....All chains have to reach a certain standard?

If you are feeling flush with money then by a chain set for your bike that you like.

If money is a bit tight then you will save yourself 70-80 quid if you fit the one you have been given.

Mart will be along in a moment to tell you to buy a shaftie.

Sorry, I know nothing of that brand.

I've had 2 triple s chains in the past, neither broke, there's not really much more I can say about them either way :)

That would be my approach too.

The chain I've got on at present came as part of a job-lot of used spares. It didn't seem to have had that much use so when I needed to replace my original chain, I stuck that one on. Think it's a DID (was so long ago I can't really remember). Has been fine.
I know people say you should never fit a used chain .... but it seemed too much of a waste to scrap something that looked to have a lot of life left in it.

I regret replacing my chain when the only problem with it was a stretched soft link causing a massive tight spot.

I do know of a few 'thrashers' that will do 2 or 3 rear sprockets on one chain.
No doubt this will shorten the life of said rear sprocket but it seems to work if you stay on top of maintaining issues

I'm on my second chain for this rear sprocket (and front for that matter), however my chain was a bit neglected and got a tight spot at 10,000 miles. The sprockets looked good, so new chain but same sprockets. now at 25,000, the chain is spot on (scottoiler makes a big difference), the rear sprocket is fine although the front is starting to shark-tooth. Whole lot to be replaced next time around
