I took my Scorpion cans off today and put the standard cans on to see what the sounded like. I prefer the quiet standard sound

I rode with standard cans for years - apart from them weighing several tons each, they're fine (and stealthy)

I had cause to move the stored standard cans to a different location yesterday. I had forgotten just how bloody heavy they are. Removal of them must markedly improve both power to weight ratio and handling.

Not too bothered about power to weight as the throttle is rarely pinned these days, but keen to see if engine is better mannered and if I can feel the extra weight.

If you really want to feel some extra weight just take the squid as a passenger... Just saying like :)

I like quiet exhausts, monotonous droning gets on my nerves. Have you met Flatlander?

I don't like loud exhausts. No point really, just asking for a tug from the rozzers.

I have some scorpion cans but always have the baffles in. Bike came with them on. Actually prefer the look of the standard matt black cans.

Anyone who says they can really notice or use, in real world riding situations, the extra couple of BHP or the extra few KG's saving that aftermarket cans give you on a Falco is either telling porkies or should be riding in BSB.

Take your point, but the Akrapovic cans on my red Falco are loud enough to get an advisory from the MoT tester, and I've never had my collar felt on account of them. Perhaps I've been fortunate...

It's all subjective, but I really didn't like the standard black cans. I found them big and ugly and the angle they mount at is all wrong to my eyes. And their weight is verging on the ridiculous. The appearance (again to my eyes) of the aftermarket Fuel and Akrapovic cans I have fitted to the blue and red Falcos respectively are a massive improvement, and lighten the bike both visually and in real terms.

Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but I would disagree. I'd say a combination of the extra grunt and the lack of kilos is noticeable, mainly in responsiveness to the throttle.

And I agree with the saying 'Loud pipes save lives'

I like a loud pipe but it needs to sound good at the same time. No good being loud for sake of it. A nice low down burble but a roaring lion when the taps are opened.

Unless you're an oik that lives over the road from me with a Chinese pit bike...
I've let him borrow my socket set but I also made it very clear that unless he did something about the noise he'd never have to look far to find a very big breaker bar.

Managed a little spin today with the standard pipes. The bike feels more refined at slow speed - like I bought a new bike - but I prefer the Scorpion cans under acceleration above 30mph. Not sure if I could tell the extra weight - the bike did feel a bit heavier, but I forgot to check the tyre pressures. I prefer the matt finish on the standard cans to my Scorpions, but the right can looks on a weird angle. Bike started well though.
