About to get the bird back on the road

So last year, for a few reasons, I didn't get the falco on the road. So after sourcing some supercorsa scrubs for decent money I decided to book the MOT for Thursday. On Saturday I went to give the bike a once over and it was all good except it wouldn't start. After checking that it wasn't the battery I came to the conclusion that the solenoid was toast. A quick check with a screwdriver across the terminals confirmed as much. My local yam dealer had none of the yam alternative in stock and it was unlikely they'd get one in time. Enter Wemoto, a quick drive down to shoreham and £25 lighter and I'm away with a new one. Bolted back in place, and a couple of backfires later, and we're back in business. A sneaky lidless ride round the block to check everything went and stopped as it should and I'm glad to say it was awesome.
Even the old mich pilots look ok for the test. I'm pretty happy with my chances for Thursday even if the pirellis don't arrive on time. Bring on the warmer roads and longer days, I'm back on the road for 2015!

Cool. Fingers crossed for Thursday. I'm really starting to suffer withdrawal symptoms now, not sure I can wait another 6 weeks or so.

Not many feelings are greater in the motorbicycling world than getting your steed back on the road after a long lay up. Hope all goes well for Thursday..

Thanks guys, everything else on the bike should be sound, I gave it a full fluids change and new pads before the lay up and swapped out the cheapy aftermarket mini indicators with poorly crimped plugs for a set of originals, changed both brake light switches and speedo sensor all in the last 1000 miles. If it fails on anything it'll be on the tyres, that's if I don't get the supercorsas on first.

Well, the MOT was a no go today. My supercorsas arrived a day late and I managed to get the rear fitted, but the bearings sound dry and the chain side adjuster bolt has rounded. I ordered some titanium adjuster bolts and cancelled the test so I can get the bearings done and fit the new bolts with some coppaslip before rebooking. Good job too because the heavens opened with hail then snow just about the time the MOT would gave ended. I foresee an afternoon of plusgas, heat and hammering to get the old bolt out and the purchase of a front stand to do the front tyre.

Oh, and I saw off the rear Michelin with a nice burnout, had to be done seeing as this is the first tyre I've seen off through wear rather than puncture.
