Just picked up a set of sl carbon cans and chip from the bay of fleas for what I think is a really good price. Has anyone fitted these and is the chip an easy swap? What's the difference in power if any?. I pick them up on Sunday so all being well the swap will be done by Sunday night

The sl cans are a nice addition to a falco and sound very nice.
Post some pics of your bike so we can look at your new purchase.

The cans are very good quality, I looked to re pack mine after 50,000 miles and they didn't need it so I did just the one. Those stainless rivets are fkn hard to drill out. Mine are only starting to look a bit tired now as maybe the varnish over the CF is starting to go in places but since they are over 10 years old, used year round and covered over 70,000 miles i'm not complaining.

Andy's correct in that I replaced the Aprilia racing SL chip with one from Gabro a couple of years ago. Nothing much wrong with the Aprilia chip just found the Gabro one a little smoother picking up from low revs.
The cans were on when I first had the bike and my bike also has the evo air filter conversion and was accompanied by a dyno chart showing 119BHP, which is certainly up a bit from the standard 108. Also they are light which to me is more important than power and noise test at 100db. The bike seems quick even up against some pretty trick stuff, the general assessment being " that goes well".

Chip is easy swap just earth yourself to a substantial metal object before you touch it...and make sure the pins are properly engaged before applying any force.

Only negative is that even though I always ride with ear plugs, I can find the sound a bit harsh and loud. Certainly they let people know you are coming which probably compensates. Not sure what you paid for yours but I think they are the best can you can get and are often priced accordingly. So it sounds like you probably got a real bargain.

That often goes with the streetfighter cans ill happily swap ;)

Welcome Twintin. That's a great price if they are in good condition. I've been on the hunt for some but good ones are rare. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Good price, last set of SL's I saw were at £400.
As HisNibbs says you will need hearing protection, they sound awesome !
I love my SL cans, my neighbours hate them

The ones I've bought are the low level ones rather than the high level ones. I pick them up Sunday am so they should be on by lunchtime when I had my firestorm I put high level microns on and if they sound half as good as those I'll be well chuffed.

Yes the SLs are low level.

The pic of the fighter cans (high level) shows the cans that your chip is for.

(dunno whether the mapping for them is different but those are the Fighter cans .... don't ask about the rest of the fighter kit - other than the cans and pillion footrests, it's hideous)

Just on the point about earthing yourself before handling an Eprom, you might consider buying an antistatic bracelet with a 3 pin plug on it. You can earth yourself to the mains while you are fitting the chip. Not a massive sum and good insurance. Try Maplins, RS Components, Farnell etc.
