Short & Long oil filters!

#1 Post by Gman87 » Sun Jul 27, 2014 6:20 pm

I have come across two different types of oil filters, a short and long type. I would like to know is why is their two different type of filters for the Falco?

I thought I'd be a smart arse and buy a few filters (long filters), so I don't have to wait around for one, only to find out my falco has a short filter ha.

OE is the short filter. For some reason, Aprilia decided to start fitting the long one at services. Requires a different cover, so causes problems if you buy the wrong one! Some started buying up the short ones, dont believe there's any real issue with the short filter

I won't worry about it then. Might means I have to get a long filter cap if push comes to shove

The original short filter was, according to Aprilia, no longer going to be available

The longer replacement required the new cover

Many of us have both covers

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
