Speedo issues

Hi All - well finally got my Falco insured and gave it a shake down run for a couple of miles to see how it behaved. The good news is that it didn't break down and I made it back!
Threw up a few issues - the speedo was in KPH - easily changed to MPH, the brakes pulsed through the lever but this is improving the more I use them and is just down to rusty disks and the gear selection is getting easier so I may not need to replace the clutch as in my last post.
I kept getting a flickering light as I increased the revs but it seems the rev limiter light was set at 6K so I have upped this to 8K for now. One thing I'm not sure of is as the speed increases the speedo seems to have a bit of a wobbly indicating all sorts of random values. Slow down and it reads correctly again. Is this driven off the sensor on the rear wheel? If so any ideas what may be wrong with it. I did wonder if I had damaged the wiring having it sat on the paddock stand as I don't have bobbins on my stand yet so lifted on the swing arm itself.
