So how did your day at cadwell go get some info and pics up guys.

It went jolly well.

A friend took some pics of me but i've yet to get them on my pc.

The day started damp but only for the first session, we also had a light shower before one of the afternoons stints but not to bad.
Other than that it was warm and very grippy on track. I quite surprised myself at how quickly i could hustle the bike round the tight circuit, and was pleased as punch to be able to hold my own in the inters group.

Sorry Nooj i didn't get to see much of you and your missus going round but i hope you enjoyed your day.

As for Dave, Pete and his mates it was good to see you and to ride arond with you.

Want to do another but i doubt the wife will let me. Must find a way of earning brownie points.

We had a great day - the weather was very good all but a threat of a shower after lunch but it soon blew over. A couple of scary crashes spoiled some peoples day but thankfully none of the prillas or friends. One very very very mad owner of a very new T 675 will be feeling ill this morning. He was taken out by another rider coming over the mountain - the offending rider just disappeared through hall bends and the 675 was pretty much totalled !!

This was my first on the falco after years of GSXRs and I did take a few sessions to get in the groove.

Pierre's monster falco performed well - once he remembered to put fuel in that round hole on top

Must do it again very soon.

No pictures as a camera was one of the many many things i forgot but www.fresh-orange.co.uk should have some soon.

3.30am* half an hour spent looking for my satnav and then printing out old fashioned directions when i couldnt find it.
4.00am dragged ready loaded trailer out of garage and went for Trev
4.30am went to Craigs house to load up his fking aprilia '2stokes-before-it-seizes' rs250, but craigs traveling with his dad
5.00am set off to meet the rest at Scotch Corner for 5.30
5.35am sat at scotch corner waiting for Craig and Brian until we got a call saying Craig had left his leathers at home and had to turn round
5.36am set off without them
6.45am stopped at ferrybridge services for refreshments and 5mins later B&C pulled in - average speed with trailer probably about 140
7.45am missed junction 35 turnoff. woops.
7.55am missed another turn. Started to sweat. Lost 1 of the convoy but didnt care
8.40am pulled into Cadwell and jogged to signing in room and stood in queue
9.00am Got to front of queue and briefing started so we had to wait
9.15am Fast lads go out, we sign in, Craig is refused cos he's 17 and only has a provisional. Cadwell say over 18's only.
9.20am go for noise test which i pass on 2nd go
9.40am go out for first session and go steady cos its a long day and theres no rush. 2 offtrack excursions by mates already
9.59am end of session - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannd relax

Such a stressfull start to the day i didnt think i was gonna enjoy it, but after the 40mins before 2nd session things had calmed down and I got to meet some of the more important members of the forum

Quite a few memorable moments. Listening to about 30 triumph 675s screaming along in the novice group and in the middle the bellowing noise of a falco and a rapid tuono.
Watching my mate get pushed off into the straw bales at 5mph made me laugh inside my helmet.
Immaculate 851 ducati lightly damaged but the rider I've since found out has broken 2 bones but seems upbeat.
The clash of the 675's and following punchup that I've also since found out that one has been arrested.
putting 1gallon in and expecting it to last all day, instead conked out 2 laps into a session , so embarressing so we wont talk about it
And been overtaken like i was stood still by a big brown falco.

And the weather held out, so much so my baldy scalp has got a minor tan

5.30pm Pack up for home. B&C leave in a hurry to beat us back but get lost and end up in Grimsby
8.00pm Fish and chips in Wetherby
9.30pm Pint and crisps in Piercebridge
10.00pm Throw Craigs bike off the trailer at his house
10.30pm Drop Trev off
10.35pm Unload trailer and car
10.36pm Bed.


Track was so good were already planning another and on Daveshill's recommendation we're doing Oulton aswell, just need to sort dates and some cash.

And i need some rearsets, and some levers, and some new tyres ...

Rather you than than me pete, I was up at six and shattered by the end of the day.

Got home about six ish only to discover my back pack had come unzipped on the way home and i had lost my prized Aprilia fleece jumper
but at least i hadn't lost my mirrors toolkit or camcorder (lucky eacape that one).
Then chilled out with well deserved curry, hot bath and some cold ones.

That was a good few days. Having learnt from the last time we did Cadwell, we stayed over the night before and the night after as it's a fair old ride for us down in Hampshire, about 220 miles each way plus nearly 100 miles on the track is a bit much to do in a day.

We made a day of the ride up and the ride back taking in the best roads we could find without going miles out of the way so those 220 miles actually took about 4 hours to do plus a few wee/food/getting lost breaks.

The Traveller's B&B in Louth was home for the two nights again, always welcoming and very bike friendly with a locked courtyard over the road they have a regular flow of people riding the circuit staying over. Louth is a good place to eat out, we had a fantastic Turkish meal on Thursday followed by an equally stonking Thai effort on the Friday, some of the best food I've had in fact!

This was only our third time on track and our first real 'free for all' track day so it didn't occur to me that there'd be row upon row of campers, tents and dedicated track bikes lined up everywhere with so many busy looking people running about with tire warmers and other expensive looking bits of kit. So far we'd only done a Hopp Rider Training day (also at Cadwell) and a day out with some mates at a tiny track at Llandow near Barry Island so it was all a bit serious looking to us this time.

So we parked up in between all the posh tents next to a big red wheelie bin which seemed appropriate for our level of skill and went to the briefing where we met up with a mate from the Fazer forum who I'd forgotten was also going.

The first session was spent trying not to be ridden into by over excitable blokes with too many CC's and not enough brain cells while looking for a quiet place in the melee where I could get to grips with track riding again.

The second session was a bit better, the testosterone levels had dropped so I could get on with practicing lines and corner speeds with a little less fear of being wiped out on the first corner by some overly competative Rossi wannabe. Seriously, there's no way that some of the guys in the novice group should have been alowed to stay in there, they were way too fast and clearly weren't new to track riding. Purely there to massage their own egos by consistantly ripping past all the slow newbies leaving a gap of inches or cutting them up at the last minute coming into corners, not nice people to share track space with.

The rest of the day saw the track get less and less crowded what with numerous crashes and the threat of rain, so I could actually get on and enjoy myself properly, which I did, a lot. I was even managing to work my way through some of the slower riders down the straights and even round a few corners as the day went on which was a surprise, as was the power wheelie coming out of the chicane. Shame I couldn't have spent a second day going round as by the time it was all over I felt like I was just starting to get the hang of it.

So once all the tiny penis syndrome suffers had all fallen off or gone home because of a light shower it turned into a really good day.

Didn't get any pics of anyone going round the circuit, our camera's not good enough for that, but I did get a few pics of the guys from here and their bikes so you can put some faces to names.

There is one Tuono that Debz is on though.

Least they arent down as a mille like mine is Even photogs dont know what a falco is. Dont reacon much to the photos anyway, no real sence of speed and we were like doing 200mph dude, 200 miles per freaking hour and I swear my front wheel was 3ft off the floor at the mountain.

And yes Gio, pfm discs. Didnt notice a difference in stopping power but no sign of fade all day but then again I dont use them as hard as a decent rider.
