One I thing I have noticed which is quite annoying is that when I go to lower the tank I need to push it quite firmly towards the bike of the bike to get the front bracket to miss the top yoke. Is this normal? The yoke has been scratched previously from this so I know its not something I have done.

I have even tried removing the rear bolt, dropping the tank at the front and getting it aligned then putting the rear bolt in but that doesn't help as soon as you raise the tank it won't clear at the front again.

I think it's ethanol added to current petrol mixes - it swells the plastic.

I have to rock the steering to lever the bracket in. Doesn't do the anodising on the bracket any good but it works. Short of that it's grind the end of the bracket down.

Mine did the same, but after switching to ethanol free petrol (see that Andy? ) the tank did shrink a bit...enough for the bracket to miss.

I'm not sure those ethanol neutralizers will work as I didn't give them a chance. I'm lucky enough to have a fuel source a little over a mile from home.

Yes ethanol is a right PITA.
There are several threads on here about it.
The oil companies are not very forthcoming about their inclusion of ethanol.

What does seem true is that RON 98 fuel is less likely to contain ethanol than 95. Whether it contains any seems to depend on where you are in the country and which oil company.

Some of us bite the bullet of paying a bit more for our fuel to try to reduce the problem.

Which is a scam in of itself. On this side of the pond, the ethanol is added when it is put in the tanker for delivery to the station. This is the first time the ethanol is introduced to the petrol.

So, we are paying extra for a service that is NOT taking place.
