Newbie - appreciate help with a few Falco questions

#1 Post by Robho » Thu Apr 24, 2014 1:02 pm

Hi Everyone

A few weeks ago I bought a cherished Falco, having found it increasingly uncomfortable to ride my RSV after breaking my right hand in an accident last year.

Very pleased with the bike so far, and am making a few small mods to suit me (fresh tyres, steering damper, uprated clutch slave, etc). This is an excellent source of info by the way (there's a lot of it)!

The riding position on the Falco is working better for me but, bizarrely, after riding for half an hour or so, I'm getting a pain in my left knee - which I don't get on any of my other bikes. Today, I've tried adjusting the gear lever to see if that helps but I can't help but think some adjustment with footpegs, too, would help. I've read some threads on rear sets - can anyone recommend some that bolt straight on without modification, are a reasonable cost and which they've found work well please?

Also, does anyone do a simple-to-fit-bar riser which, similarly, doesn't need modifications?

And, lastly, for town traffic especially the horn is woeful! I'd like to fit something more effective - but there doesn't seem to much space ...be pleased to hear if other owners have addressed this.

Many thanks

Bars over triple is quite straight forward

Aprilia performance rear sets can be made to fit quite easily

Horn wise..... I have too say no idea!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I bought a 132 decibel horn on ebay, Acumen Electronics Ltd, same size as a std horn.
Not yet fitted, I just liked the idea of 132 db.
I also found some adjustable foot pegs ( Chinese ) that have those serrated adjustment stages, lowering 20 or 40 mm.
Do an advanced search Aprilia Falco, many many pages but some gems amongst the crap

Does it have a horn? With the Aprilia Racing cans a blip of the throttle usually gets all the attention I need.

I'll agree with that. A hefty twist of the wrist works wonders for waking the dozy buggers up.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

One more: is there a workshop manual available?

Yes - workshop manual, user manual and other useful stuff available on Martin Poll's website:
http://www.martinpoll.dk/div_april.htm

Download the OCR one - it's searchable

Hi Robho.
I think I read your post on RSVR.NET about buying a falco?
Old git fitted some buell pegs with slight mods?
But there is loads of lowering options on ebay?
Like these?
