i've searched but alot of the threads are old.

There is a sticky saying about fully, semi synthetic and minreal oil etc but I'm a little lost.

My 01 Falco s barely run in at 17.5k So do i go with a semi 15w50?

Thanks

Speaking from recent experience, my 02 (24000 miles) Falco had 15w50 as it was the recommended oil.
I read all the threads and it was the only oil type I considered, I have had no problems at all with that choice.

The oil specified by Aprilia is 15W50 semi-synth

IF you get clutch slip that can't be cured by other means, they allow the use of 10W40 semi-synth (they issued a bulletin to this effect)

A lot of people prefer fully-synth oils for the greater consistency of performance they offer. For most Falcos, 15W50 fully-synth oil works fine BUT some of the early ones suffer clutch slip with fully-synth oil.

If you have black crow or fire red falco, the safe option is semi-synth (though some of them are ok on fully synth)

The later olympic bronze / flamingo red / oasis green bikes (and the american dark frame models) should be fine on either fully or semi synth

As for the blue ones, I'm not sure whether they do well on fully synth or not. The yellow ones are of the same vintage as the blue ones but the most important thing with them is a respray to a proper colour.

Stick to semi synth on an 01 Falco.
Had an Aprilia Dealer service at 10K, they used Putoline fully synth, clutch slipped on way home, and much worse that weekend on a run out.
:smt009
Contacted the dealer, who reckoned it may need a new clutch, but thought I'd try changing to semi synth first.
Have used Castrol semi synth ever since and still running fine 9 years and 30 odd thousand miles later.
:smt001
Last winter I tried using Castrol 10W40 and in the summer I got minor clutch slip with the thinner oil.
Swapped it for the thicker 15W50 and perfect again after that. :smt017
(don't know how that fits with the Aprilia Bulletin?) :smt017 :smt017

Ring opie. And ask them for their cheapest semi synthetic. All oils have to meet certain specifications. :smt002

Motul 5100 15w50. Suits the Falco a treat and not overly spendy when purchased from Opie Oils...

Snap, though I have also used their fully synth without problems.

Oh well, it seems opie don't sell semi 15/50 nor an oil filter for the Falco.

Certainly used to carry the oil - I used them for Hanna a bike

Get the standard short filter from halfords for about 8 quid - they carry them in stock normally
