Ok, horrible noises on start up lead me to believe Im in the market for a new one, so simple question.
Is there an uprated version or just buy standard ?

They don't do an uprated aprilia version. Although the KTM might be. But a topped up battery will be the best solution to any uprated version.
If you are struggling with changing it pm me for my phone number :smt002
Or alternatively bring it to me with all the parts and I will do the job which will be a couple of hours. I want to take more detailed photo's of the task for our technical section.

I bodged mine - just clipping 15mm or so out of the floppy spring. It's been good for over a year now. I knew the engine was a goner anyway so was prepared for a short-term fix.

Yeah - that's the fix that Pierre pioneered. His write up is still there in our Aprilia Ridersite Archive: http://www.jahlis.net/ars/viewtopic.php ... ade28a1f05

Certainly seems to be a viable option for those on a budget or needing a quick fix without waiting for parts to arrive.
Good to hear of another for whom this has worked well.
