Feeling A Little Flat

#1 Post by NickyT » Wed Aug 28, 2013 2:26 pm

Bumtits. Went to start the bike the day after a long ride and to my dismay the battery didn't have enough charge to start the engine.

It jump started off the car and ran fine, but looking at the volts, they don't rise above 12 when the engine is revved. Clearly it isn't charging. The battery is new so we can exclude that from our investigations.

Is there any standard Aprilia checklist for diagnosis? I've heard there can be a dodgy lead to the reg/rec, or it could be the alternator, etc etc.

Any one who's had the same issue that could comment, I'd be very grateful. Bloody typical, as I'm booked to do Cadwell on Monday. Will take some jump leads!

Thanks

Check battery terminals....

Check and clean major connectors

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Charging...

Hi all,

Check the round connector coming up from the stator out of your engine. That has been shown to throw a few bikes down on charging. I have personally took mine out and soldered the connections and shrink wap, job done :smt002
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
