Oberon or Motorpike ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:53 pm

As I missed out on the cheap Factory Racing clutch slave, Im now looking at around £89 for FR, £92 for Oberon, not much in it price wise, how much is in it quality wise ?

Go for the cheaper option

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

as zoidberg said, motopike put anywhere between 3-5 slaves for the falco on ebay every couple of weeks.

Just be patient, you will save yourself some money.

Mine came today - the quality and engineering looks absolutely marvelous.

Btw. I was not referring to the quality!!!!!1
They are virtually the same slave cylinder

Then again, I wonder what these new options are like?

Will obviously depend on the Customs charges, if applied.

yeah, by the time you have paid for postage and then shipping charges, it will probably be more expensive.

I don't think so - £38.26 for the part, £9.57 postage - the possibility of a little bit of import duty - nah this is way cheaper

£38.26 + £9.57 = £47.83, add in another 20% on top of that (import duty applies to the price of the item, postage, and import duty, if eligible) and you get £57.39.

My slave was £55.99 posted.

Also, there is the postage wait, undoubtable endless customs issues, chance of it getting lost in the post, etc.

Then there is the question of the quality of the product - it certainly doesn't look anywhere as nice as the motopike unit.

Also, support British industry and all that yada yada.

OK - so you paid over the odds then!
My MPL was £48 delivered (£40 + £8 delivery) if we're into the "I got mine cheaper than you willy-waving"

I thought we were comparing with the prices of the Oberon and the Factory thingy that you can actually go and place an order for.

I was just looking for cheap Motopike offers when I saw these cheap units, which you could probably get for almost half the standard priced Motopike or Oberon kit at around £90 plus delivery.
Just wondered if anybody else had noticed them and had a view. :smt017

Whilst talking about Falco kit on eBay, has anybody noticed this -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151017542205? ... 1423.l2649

Will be about 200 dollars delivered, so certainly ain't cheap, but if anybody wants Bling and Adjustability. ??

Hardly over the odds - the units start on eBay at £49.99 with £5 delivery directly from motopike. I paid a whole pound more than absolute cheapest possible.

Also not willy waving - It has also well known that motopike relist these slaves constantly - with between 3 and 5 units ending every Sunday evening around 8pm.....anyone can get one at this price if they are willing to wait a few weeks.

I was simply trying to point out that if you are going to wait a couple of weeks for it to be delivered from "Merica, Fuck Yeah", you may as well wait for motopike to relist and grab one of recognised quality and performance, supporting our own economy.

Also, the above "Merican" unit usually retails at $99.99, to buy one at fully price would just be silly, considering import taxes. :smt101
