Doesn't illuminate when tge ignition is on... anyone got an idea where to start?

Its an LED so would it not be soldered? I suppose it could fail. I'll investigate over the weekend.

The solder could snap I spose, but I'd have a look at the wiring from the clocks (exposed cores, loose connectors etc) and then the fuses.

Hmmm. The plot thickens. After checking out tge wiring behind tge dash and plugging and unplugging the dash. Now the max led doesn't work.

Simple answer:
Mirrors off
Nose cone off
Clocks off
Clocks opened
Internals of clocks pulled out
Offending LED removed
Equivalent LED surgically replaced
Clocks put back together
Clocks bolted back in place
Etc...

Got the dash out. Acces is easy with the screen out.
Going to wander down to Maplin tomorrow for a replacement.
Is it just a 12v led?

Forward voltage drop of an LED is typically about 1.4v
The important thing with LEDs is to limit the current but that will be done by a resistor on the PCB. This will control the brightness and protect the LED from burning out.
You just need a LED with a similar spec to the one you pull out (which you won't actually know - so you'll just have to go for one the same size and colour and see how it is.
That said I very much doubt that the LED will have failed - they are extremely robust and failures are extremely few and far between.

Ya knows what I mean...thats the trouble with posting after beers......its getting 1.2v at it so its getting a supply. Its just not illuminating.
The dash has been open before so whether its been played eith I don't know.
