Easy/best way to 'lock up' clutch ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Tue Jul 30, 2013 5:17 pm

Assuming (correctly) I dont have the factory tool.
The clutch hub nut is effing tight. Is it possible to lock/hold the clutch in any other way ?

And the answer is NO
I tied the front and rear wheels together with a 7 ton ratchet strap, put it in 1st gear and still could not undo 170nm, all I managed to do was take the flex out of the ratchet strap and smash a pillar off the hub when the socket slipped off the nut :smt009 :smt009 :smt009

Perhaps a bit of steel pipe on the wrench? a bigger leaver = less effort ;)

Ive ordered a locking tool, hopefully it will be man enough.
I think the issue is eliminating all movement in order do deliver the force needed to break the joint, will take a nano second....( under perfect conditions ! )
