New friction plates, mega clutch slip ?

Fitted EBC heavy duty friction plates today, coated them in oil on wed, when they arrived so should be good to go.
Went to torque springs to 11 nm using an inch/pounds wrench, the conversion being something like 108 inch/pounds, I didnt achieve the torque setting, it felt way too much.
Test ride, major clutch slip so I released the tension, tightened up evenly by hand to 'pinch' tight ( this stratergy worked when I re assembled clutch after inspection)
Now I have slight drag, thunk engaging 1st, cant select nuetral but slips like hell over 2000rpm.
Did notice after fitting plates, they were slightly ' prouder ' than originals.
Im thinking heavy springs needed also ?
Any ideas welcome !

I would suspect that the top plate is not engaged upon the splines and free to go up and down them. So your spring tension is pulling it on to the end of the shaft rather than down it. Would fit in with it being slightly prouder too.

although the final plain plate engaged with the hub, that was with a cold motor, maybe the expansion is enough to 'throw it out '
will look again tomorrow, sods law says my laptop wont let me access my download manual, my ebay paper manual has not arrived !
Fuck it, beer oclock !

HisNibbs, you were spot on with your diagnosis !
Old plates fitted this morning....all working again. I will have to fit 7 new friction plates with 2 old ones, see iif that works.
