As I said elsewhere I've been giving the Falco a little TLC. One of the things I've done is to clean off the cement like salt deposit on the oil cooler. I did this with a big bowl of water and a soft plastic bristled brush, over the period of a couple of days. Started it up tonight ready to change the oil and the cooler is leaking from in the mesh somewhere. Also looks like there is another leak from the oil pressure switch.

I'll have another look maybe tomorrow when I've not had a couple of glasses, just to double check they are not connected and its not from the cam covers which I've had off to check the valves. Doesn't look like it though so in readiness, any one got a Falco oil cooler for sale?

I have but it'll take a few days to get off the bike (replacing it with a Mille one as part of the mod process).

Oil cooler is definitely leaking, so is the oil pressure switch. So Falcorob I'm in the market for a cooler.

On a side note any one got experience of small pressure washers or steam cleaners? This oil cooler failure is I think down to winter corrosion. As I ride every day all year round and do sponge wash weekly, the stuff they are putting down these days is just eating my bikes alive. I need something that is quick and going to get in the nooks and crannies. I think my local Lidle has one or two left over.

I've got a Lidl pressure washer - same model as they are selling now but I bought mine last year.

I've got a cheap steam cleaner. Rubbish. About as much use as a kettle with a bit of hose taped to it.
Had a cheap pressure washer and took it back. Not much more pressure than a hosepipe with a squirty end bit.
Bought a 110bar one straight from karcher and at the most brutal setting I've used it to strip garden furniture back to bare wood and remove the paint off garden pots. The patio cleaning attachment is also a thing of wonder.

If you're riding year round, then I suspect an investment in ACF-50 might be in order. It's one of the few concoctions I'd trust to combat road salt (or whatever) that's currently in use.

Incidentally, molasses is well known as a paint and rust-stripping compound. However once it's stripped the paint, it leaves the metal below defenceless against salt etc...

I've investigated getting mine fixed but the guy has deemed it FKD. Not sure where Falcorob is with selling me his. I'm looking on e-bay and there is one for a RSV 2002 that looks the same but nothing listed for a Falco. Oil pressure switch and brake pads replaced and I'm wanting to get it all sorted now as there are not many 'fix it days' left before Malory.

Falco cooler has both feed and return on top of cooler,
RSV has feed into bottom on RHS, and return top LHS.
The cooler will physicaly fit all the mounts but you will have a nightmare re routing the feed in.
I looked at 'universal 'coolers but nothing fixes to frame in the same way as a Falc, universals seem to be fixed each end where as we are talking Italian here, bottom mount centre, top mounts just off centre

Keith I have a mille cooler in the garage. Pm me you address and I will send it on loan until you pick a falco one up I have the mille oil tank also. Let me know

Thanks guys. I'll have to see how I could fit the Mille cooler on its own or will it require the tank and connecting line? It might also make sense to just do a bit of braketry and fit a universal jobbie. Seems like more head scratching is required.

Thanks to Jay and maybe Pete for a bit of organizing I now have the Falco back on the road.

New plugs, pads, oil and filters to go with the replacement cooler and oil pressure switch. The little test ride before checking the oil level proved awesome....

I've refitted the Ohlins steering damper and added a quick action throttle to the equation. Coming straight from the BMs it is almost insane, the Falco makes more power than both of them put together and weighs in close to the cafe racer.

So I now have a little over a week to get used to it again. Lets hope no one is looking.
