Spotted and purchased :)

Not too happy with the VTR stand, the bike leans far too far over for my liking, I'm just as nervous as with the original.

Hope it's as good as the description

I have often thought about making side stands. But although I am very confident in my skills, would I want the responsibility of someone else's bike if it failed?
Mmmm :smt017

I paid £15 for my Gixxer stand and drilled it myself in 5 minutes! I think there's a business opportunity there!

Willopotumus did start to do these but found that the average cost of the "raw" gixer stands, plus the time and cost of fettling (including powder coating) meant that it wasn't really economic for him to continue.

Ok, my pre-configured one arrived today and I've just fitted, however, the bike is almost lying on it, it just doesn't seem right.

Here's a pic of it with the bike on a paddock stand (I'm not prepared to leave it on the sidestand):

Some pics on the sidestand:

And it definitely doesn't look like this:

I've also found the belly pan no longer fits as the bracket that attaches to the side stand bracket hits the stand and the stand itself fouls the belly pan.

Anyone have suggestions about either of these? Do others have the same with the Gixer stand?

Mmmm that does,nt look right. What does the stand look like when in the up position?
Have you got a spacer bracket fitted to the bike?
This is what mine looks like with a different Honda stand. Kerry did tell me what it was but can't remember although it maybe a blackbird stand.

In fact looking at your bike again, you definitely have the spacer fitted.

Sorry, being ignorant, what does that mean? I need to remove or replace something?

That all looks a bit odd to me.
Don't think that is a Falco sidestand bracket and not sure about that sidestand being the correct Gixer stand - though that could just be the angle of the photo.

I'll try to get some pics of mine tomorrow.

Sorry I was mistaken. When I fitted a bobseywoo sidestand to what is the stormtrooper, the precious owner had fitted an adapter plate of some description.
I thought you had one fitted :smt053

Hmmm - have you got one of those 'tilter' brackets fitted (or whatever they were called?) The bracket looks to have more angle to my eye, although I could be mistaken.

It looks like the stand is kicking out further than it should. I know with my GSXR stand it does kick out more than standard (that is the point) but not as much as yours.

Mine also fouled on the bellypan I have fitted, but I dremelled the bellypan back to a nice shape and use it as a stop - to stop the stand touching the exhaust - if that makes sense!

I'm the same as hornetrider: I got a Gixer stand (K4 era if I recall) and it deffo does NOT lie the bike over that far! Mine doesn't foul the bellypan bracket, but I too had to dremmel the cut-out in the bellypan a little bigger to accommodate the longer stand.
Either you have, as mentioned by HR, a tilted bracket (to use with the original stand to kick it out more) or some other bikes bracket (doubtful).
Do you have any pics with the OE stand in use, just to see what lean angle you were getting?

I do have the OE stand, the brackets are the same. It's the stand itself, I don't think it's the right one.

I've been in contact with the seller and he's issued me a refund, I'm sending it back tomorrow. Apparently it leant over the same amount on his bike too, but I'm not confortable with that at all.

I think I'll go back to the VTR stand and get a blob of weld added (by a friend) to stop it coming so far forward.

Thanks to everyone for all your help and advice.
