Engine Rattle

Ashamed to say went for my first ride of the year yesterday. Still bloody cold. Noticed a rattling noise under load between 2.5 and 5k revs going through the gears from 2-6. Not noticeable in first. Having looked through the previous posts(using the invaluable search function

)but couldn't see anything similar. There is no evidence of the rattle when revving in neutral. Any ideas? Thanks in anticipation. Phil

torque up the 14mm head stock bolt ,
loose front pads / clips pads worn
front rotors, normal if they are full floating
slack chain,
the falco dosent like low revs its a v twin , to high a gear for speed you were doing ,
just my thoughts,

Thanks Joe, Had the bike 3 years so used to the gearing on the Falco. Due a chain and sprockets change but rattle sounds as if its coming from the engine. Will see how it is after a service. Cheers Phil

If its only under load I would check my chain and sprockets....

The Rotax does make a slight rattle when the engine is under load at low revs (excellerating). Do you hear anything from the motor on tick over?

Maybe just needs fresh oil?
TBH, mine has been a rattly bugger since I got her 7ish years ago. I've put +30k on her since then (no I don't have the cash for 1000 mile trips round Europe) and she hasn't got any worse (touches wood).

Yeah check:
1) Nothings coming loose
2) Chain well adjusted
3) Throttle bodies are well synched (can be a bit lumpy below 3k if their not)

Think I've found the cause gents. On doing the oil and filter change(relatively straightforward considering some of the nightmares I have read on here) I noticed the bolt securing the sump to the engine seemed a bit loose. On examination it appears the bolt has sheared leaving the thread inside. Only had a short run since fixing it and no sign of 'rattle'. Thanks for replies. Phil
