OK OK ...I'll admit now i know this is going to be a stupid question but what's new from me !!

I know the speed senor works off the bolts BUT i've just replaced the rear tyre and i thought i'd done well enough just doing that , went for a quick "scrub it in" ride and now no speedo reading......Just after some advice really what should i be looking for to make sure i do it right this time ie...lining up the sensor ? , it's sooooo bloody cold out in the garage i only want to do this the once and not muck it up again...

As for the tyre i've just added an Avon ST II on the back and have Avon viper on the front. Great feed back from the tyre and hopefully longer lasting as well.....

can only go in in one way.....

bolts can only go in in one way.....

make sure you use the same bolts..... do not change them for others... if you do make sure they have the same dimple... if not, remove sensor, examine, note how you have worn a groove in the sensor

spend a while trying to source one that is in stock.....

I know (from having to check this myself) the workshop manual specifies the gap between bolt heads and sensor and also tells you how to test the sensor.

Also check the sensor is plugged in properly in the wiring harness

So basically start SWEARING and don't stop until it's sorted !!!

Got the thing going in for an MOT tomorrow so called them and they said it's no worries it's not working and it's not an MOT fail .........thought it would be !! I never really bothered checking it as i just took the wheel out , had tyre change and placed it back in. It was so cold i never even bothered cleaning the swinging arm and i always do that when the wheels out !! I'm hoping it's just a case of taking it back out and a quick fiddle with it and then back together ....when i say fiddle i meant the wheel !!

Will put on all the thermals i have and try and get it working tomorow......and if ( probably when ) that fails it will be evilbay here i come .....wish me luck !!

BUGGER ...BUGGER .....BUGGER......it's DEAD !! Spent the afternoon trying to get some life out of it but nothing , it's just staying on 0mph......
Time to start looking , seen one on ebay for £78 buy it now , please tell me that's a lot and one will be around soon a lot cheaper ?!

On the plus side i now have NO idea how far above the speed limit i'm doing.....IF i'm going above it of course !!!

You used to be able to get them at a reasonable price but of late they've been going for silly money. I've not looked for a while but last time I did they tended to be £50+

I'm in the same situation, the part number is the same as for the RSV, searching for a mille sensor bring up a few more options.

TBH second hand ones don't come up that often and I wouldn't pay much for a pre-used part that has a pretty high failure-rate.

Yes these sensors are used on a lot of bikes - though what seems to vary most is the position of the mounting hole - so many will not fit.
I suspect some do - especially some Ducatis but have never managed to confirm which.

Certainly the Mille ones fit

If your on the standard gearing 6K in top is about 105MPH hope that helps....

Well it's cost me £70 but i went for a new one after thinking about it for a while..., new one here and in she goes and now all back to normal running again ..... thank god !!

The weather is getting better so hoping to put some miles on the bird this weekend....
