Hi just wondered has anyone had any experience with these air filters?
http://www.racingairfilters.eu/?ids=kop3/sub1
Tempted to buy one as I have just received a bonus from work.
I have a K&N at the mo with Scorpion red power exhausts and Gabro chip.
So I think I should be ok with the chip if I fitted one of these.
Appreciate any comments :smt006

Although that is a stunning bit of kit!

Might be a good, (but expensive), filter, but why would you want to cut down the induction noise. :smt007

I am more addicted to the induction roar than the noise of the titanium cans on mine.

I am actively looking into an open airbox type filter for my Falco.

In the past, among other bikes, I have owned an air-cooled Ducati 900SS and a 750SS, both of which had open airboxes and the most fearsome induction noise (way louder than the exhausts).

I rode a mate's Mille which has the Hooked airbox, and it came close to recreating the same noise levels, which I find very appealing as even with fairly loud GPR cans and a K&N, my Falco doesn't sound anything special to the rider.

One problem I have found is that the Hooked and Renegade options both seem to be discontinued now, or at least not particularly easy to find. What do people here recommend? I want induction noise and a tidy, reliable installation. If more midrange is a by-product, then I ain't complaining. NB I already have a Forza chip designed to suit cans and filter/airbox mod.

Thanks

How can they justify the price ???
Yes they claim it to be fireproof but Im not convinced. What would happen if I put my blow torch on it ?
They also claim to utilise ALMOST 100% of the filter's surface area,so how much is almost 100 %?
K & N use a concertina shape to the filter material, thus doublbing the surface area ( of the standard filter )
As Cathcart said ' fuck that, a K & N is £32 '
I have a K & N, yes it makes a big difference
Air filters/boxes are restrictive by design standard to stop you thrashing the grollies off stuff.
When you are dealing with an injection system, there is only a small margin for improvement as fuel/air mixture is monitored by eletronics, there are a few physical improvements to make then you venture into snake oil territory

well

i can only refer you to my (very ample) arse dyno

there is a world of difference between a K&N falco and a renegade or evo system.... but the renegade is not restrictive so....

Not fitted my renegade yet .... and I've had it a few years .....

The K&N made no perceptible difference to power - but then I didn't buy it for that - it was the re-usability that I was most keen on.

TBH that MWR filter looks a better solution than the renegade and much better than the evo but I'm not paying that sort of money!

Found the HE filter slightly cheaper with a 5% discount, so might go for it.

I don't get any induction sound from the K&N, just a lovely deep overrun when i throttle off, so with this and the slight induction noise from HE filter, i'm sure many a motorist should hopefully here me coming. Looks neater than the EVO type filter as well.
Think I wil treat the Falco to an early summer present if we ever get one that is.

Yes it does look a nicely designed filter but what is the expected bhp gain ?
I also bought a K & N because its re useable but it does feel like the acceleration is a fair bit sharper.
Then again, Im also now running much better tyres and a rear shock that does not try to throw me off so confidence boost there !
Let us know how it goes when you get one

Their major selling point appears to be the reduction in intake noise. Fair enough, but for that sort of money I want to know how much extra bhp it gives me. Dyno proof, please...

Ah Gazzo this is how it begins. :smt112
Next you will be asking for tips on modding the bike, "Some of the bravest" words on ridersite.
If you are thinking of seriously tuning the engine, ie. Chip, open exsausts and power commander + time on the Dyno then an air box will help
K@N is good for the money. And like andy said re useable.
The filter at a high price on ebay is not going to make the bike much better than a K@N. And tbh very very expensive.
Gazzo Save your money for something else and buy a K@N, (If its induction roar you don't want).
I have a renegade air box on one of the bikes which when I first started with the falco I bought because I thought there were big gains. There isn't. :smt018
Maybe a couple of BHP. Although you can "just" tell the difference.
Don't get me wrong if its induction roar you want then the Renegade/Hooked air box is the way to go. Its addictive :smt003
I would go with the Renegade/Hooked air box for noise alone and only that over the filter on ebay, although for a new hooked/renegade air box they are similar money to the one on ebay.
These are not K@N but look very similar

If you want an Hooked air box ring Griff he is very helpful 01827285500 Although the hooked air box can not be bought now he does an equivalent called an Evo air box :smt002 I have been told by one of our admins that they are about 100 quid

Just ordered one today and I've been lucky and managed to get a USB power commander III from an early milie that was on eBay earlier for just over the ton. Does anyone know of a good dyno centre in Essex. Don't mind riding a little way.
