Stanchions\height

I want to lower the stanchions through the yolks to set the height at 3 rings, at this point it is set at 6 and it is a little low for me.
Am I right in thinking that there are are four pinch bolts on each leg, are these the only clamps that hold the fork legs.
I can reach and loosen all 8, all I need to do is raise the bike a little and allow the forks to drop through.
Who has done this and what are you tips, I do not have an abba stand only a paddock and I think that that is not of use anyway.
Cheers.

As far as I remember it's just those 8 bolts yes.

ratchet strap around the triple and a joist would be a good option

Be aware that you'll slow down the steering. If it's just that the bars are too far down, consider moving them above the yokes.
Apologies if you already realise this.

Thanks Alad I had something like that in mind, a joist and rope, although not sure what you mean by "Triple"
I think I will put the brakes on a touch to push them through a little just to break the "seal" of dirt etc. once I lnow they move I should be able to manouvre them up.

Just do one leg at time. Loosen the 4 bolts. Two on the top and two on bottom yolk. You will need to loosen the clipon as well IIRC, Move to three rings by twisting the fork back and to until you are at three rings and then torque everything back up. Then do the other one. Very easy to do. Just don't undo both sides at the same time. Triple tree is a Yankee way of saying yolks.

That is exactly why I asked, not thought about the clip on and doing one at a time makes sense.
Also I have always wanted to ask what does "IIRC"m mean.
Cheers.

And paddy's solution needs a front lift as you need to pop the wheel out.... You could try with out the front lift but it would be like undoing the sidestand while the bike is on it.....
(There are some old farts here who will remember what I mean!)

You will need to undo the clipon too, as it should be bolted to the top clamp.
