This is my simplified version of the charging mod.....

Image

^ Testing it out before getting the soldering iron out.

Image

^ This is where the 4 pin white connector was. 2 red positive wires into 1. 2 green negative wires into one. Soldered straight off the regulator rectifier.

Image

^ This is simply the two wires being connected to the positive and negative of the battery. I used a ring crimp then soldered it.

Image

^ New battery voltage at the display.

Image

^ New battery voltage measured using a decent meter rather than anything electric made by italians.
The display is half a volt out.

Charging mod complete. Simple.

Now take a measurement at 4k and watch it drop.

Mine reads 13.9 on the dash when idle (14.3 measured directly at the battery) and nothing turned on. that drops somewhat at 4k (which is where the bike spends a lot of its time).

Turn on the headlights and of course you lose some more. Likewise braking or indicating.

It ought to be a solid 14.5 at idle and above really.

from memory and possibly from one bit of a manual I may have read the falco doesn't charge at less than 4

Nice work.

That doesn't appear to be that much different to the other method apart from not running through the fuse. I did mine years ago and it I recall it being a bit more of a faff than your method though. But that was using the existing conduit and wedging into the fuse holder.

I'll hold it at 4k tonight and take some more pictures. I'm sure from memory all be it that was yesterday and I've slept from then it only dropped 0.1v. I'm happy with that if it's the case....

I did this today, got my charging rate for 13.7 at idle to 14.45v whatever's happening (lights or no lights).
