You've also got the option of a Forza chip... Flatlander done a good "seat of the pants" review and it came out quite smooth and good. Only £45 on ebay and faster delivery than gabro... Was actually messaging the guy today about it.

Got a link to the review. Seen the listings on Ebay for them! Looks good and cheaper than Gabro's from what I've read. Plus after emailing Gabro and having no reply I'mswaying my views towards something such as a forza....thanks

Mind gabro is in Italy... Different time although I don't know when you messaged him. To be honest, from everything I've read gabro has the best rep but then I've had a much larger conversation with Forza so I guess I'll end up going to him.

I emailed malarone@gmail.com or what ever it was. There was a link in a thread on here or apriliaforum..
It seems near enough £70 for a Gabro or £45 for a FA when FA seems readily available....seems more sensible...but then this was only ever meant to be a weekend wheelie machine, not a commuter nor a track going animal...

I've also read lots of different things with regards to air filters. I've no idea which road to go down. Do they really make that much difference or shall I keep it standard and just get a chip with open pipes?

Doesn't take much money to do an air filter mod. Just a bit of ingenuity.

I'm new on the falco scene too so I ain't the best for advice. What I've read, as far as memory serves is that the standard airbox strangles the engine. Easy enough fix with some rubber and bit and bobs. Personally, I'm 90% sure I'll open the airbox, for such little effort for a tweak in performance... Why wouldn't you? Apart from my "can't be arsed" attitude of course and my worry of unfiltered air getting through.
A chip is meant to make a noticeable difference either way... Not that I could tell you. Most of my mods are all getting done the now without me riding between to feel a difference.

Air filter changes...

K&N gives between 2 and 3 extra bhp - is also washable so more economical

Both evo and renegade systems are no longer made though some copies are around. Both give around 5 bhp

The evo type is easy to copy

The renegade type has a lovely induction roar

Chip wise .... The forza chips are getting good press. They are off the shelf units. The gabro chips are made to order and are made to fit the bikes mods

Certain older chips are highly prized ....

I have been asked to trial a new chip over the next few weeks btw.....

So the answer is to rid the box and bolt some filters on the end.... essentially?
Then look into chips. I don't want to order a chip whatever that may be then weeks later fiddle substantially more and need a new chip to accommodate!!

What do you mean the Forza chips are off the shelf? All the same? The guy asked me my mods etc so he can set it up the way I need. I noticed the guy also does the kit for an open airbox but at silly price for all it is.

I have a 2005 Falco with (amongst other mods) GPR cans and K & N filter.

I ordered a Forza chip via Ed Elliott on that other forum (my name on there is MrIncredible) and he asked me what mods my bike had. It was then made to order.

The Forza chips keep the trim pots live for later adjustment on the dyno if required.

I fitted mine (the instructions were simple, although to be honest you don't really need instructions for such a simple job) and took it for a spin. The difference in throttle response was immediate. Midrange feels less laggy than before, and top end is really, really strong.

I would happily recommend one.

Just to clarify about trim pots - most chips keep them enabled - even the standard chip the bike came with from the factory - except for the ones delivered to the USA.

Sounds interesting. Do you know if the Forza chips alter the ignition advance, as the Gabro ones do?

The Forza chips do have custom ignition tables as well as fuel maps, yes.

I checked back to the feedback I gave to the guy that makes them when I fitted mine last October (my previous chip said RSVR PRO on it; I don't know what make):

- More responsive
- Flat spot much less noticeable
- Will now wheelie off the power in second much more easily
- Will now wheelie off crests when you crack it open in third, before it was too slow to respond to throttle inputs
- Stronger top end - it's still pulling very hard at 10k rpm

Tickover is even and stable, and it starts the same as it did before.

I believe the forza chips come in different flavours depending on the mods done

Ie
Open exhaust and airbox
Open exhaust with standard airbox

And so on

(I am not knocking the chips at all btw - they have very good reports....)

The chip I and another will be testing is specifically for the kind of extensive mods I have done.... As has the other person invited to do....
