I have searched the threads so I know what the question is, will a new 100amp rel;ay stop this happening.

New Motbatt battery, bike on optimiser, when starting the bike (always starts first time) the bike does not fly into life the battery seems to dip as if it is really struggling to turn over the engine.

If I have the original relay will replacing it with the 100amd amp version allow the engine to spin over a bit easier and allow for an easier start.

Or is it just as easy to spend the £20 and see what happens.

Maybe but maybe not.

The 100amp relay is just a relay rated to carry 100amp - so depends what the starter motor draws as to what actually flows.

What you are really after is a relay with low contact resistance (and those with high current ratings typically have better contacts)

Is AP8112927 the upgrade part number?

I managed to get a 150amp from amazon after I read a thread on here... Haven't tried it yet. You could also check the for sale section as there's a guy stripping a falco and I'm sure it's the 100amp relay he has.

Edit, just seen that I wrote that he had 150amp, I meant to write that he has a 100amp.

Get down & have a look at the cable connection on the starter motor, mine was corrodded, dirty & buggered.
I got it replaced (along with an overhall on the whole thing), spins easier than an easy spinning thing.
If its all crudded up, I think there is high resistance and that is why you get it dipping, bit like a pause once you hit the button.

Thanks OG that is the phrase I was looking for, it's exactly that, a pause as if it is thinking about it, i will look at the weekend and give the statrter motor wires etc. a good clean.

If the srarter soleniod/relay thing works you should hear an audible click as it engages disengages
Shit starter motor connections ( pos and neg ) will give similar or worse symptoms and the leads will be hot to touch after starting attempts

hello all ,,, my falco had the same probbs a good clean of cable connections helped but the 150amp relay from griff fixed it
my old relay clicked but thats all it did ,, poss it being cheap cra,,p the
contacts were burnt out

Right, I have managed two out of three.

I changed out the 50amp relay for a 150amp, easier than I thought the rear body work with all the screws loose lifts just clear of the relay and rectifier allowing you to swap it out in 20 minutes.

Plugs changed.

could not get the cap off the starter motor cable so thought it must be clean so left it.

The result was the bike started with no dip, fired up as you would expect a bike to do so with a good battery, really pleased.
