Hi, I've just swapped my front brake disks for standard (I think) Brembos (second hand). All seems fine, but the nearside brake calliper isn't alligning correctly. The offside is on OK and the wheel is spinning OK. The discs look the same on both sides and the allignmnet looks the same too . Going by the calliper it looks like the disc should be a few mm nearer the wheel. Any suggestions? I've pushed the pistons back as far as they will go, so it's not that. Thanks guys.

There is a spacer / washer on one side of the front axle......

I would look through the work shop manual and check all is in order as a start

Sorry about that; happy to take piccies, but not sure what of. Just wondering if anyone's got a theory. The spacer in on the offside OK. Can't understand why one disc would be on OK. Is it possible the nut is not tight enough to pull the forks together properly at the bottom?

If you used a torque wrench to the correct setting it should be fine.....

(Iirc the 4 pinch bolts are 2.5 kg and the main spindle is 5kg but please check)

main spindle is 80nm pinch bolts 22 or 25 can't remember, but ohlins are only 12nm

If it's only the discs you've changed, check for crud/thread lock under the disc mounting face. Make sure the caliper bolts are the right ones etc.

Did you follow the fork alighnment technique when reinstalling the front wheel? Might be all it is.

IIRC you need to tighten the left side pinch bolts, torque up the axle, tighten the right side oinch bolts, loosen the left side pinch bolts, bounce the forks a bit with the brakes on, then tighten the pinch bolts.

Please check the sequence, because I'm nototiously bad at remembering this and although I've done it 3 times in the last 2 weeks, I had to look it up each time.

Isn't that just the radial calliper ohlins forks? I think the standard ones are the same as the other forks - mind you, this is just from memory as I've not got time to check this morning.

Success Finally I'll be able to try the new front tyre

Turned out it was the front wheel not on correctly. The wheel pin wasn't fully inserted, so the wheel wasn't pushed over far enough to the right. I've had the wheel on and off a few times in the past and I've never really realised how easy it is to get it wrong. Thanks for the prompt Falcopops
