I need to sort out my rear master cylinder.
Any recommendations? Apparently you cannot get bits from Aprilia
so my mechanic told me.
I think I'll do it myself. A new one would not kill me either.

Sort out?
As in buggered and broken or poor performance?
A Mille part can be made to fit btw....

Don't get me bloody started on the BLOODY rear brake...........four hours trying and trying and once more trying before walking away as i was about to take the biggest hammer i could find too smash it to pieces !!!

......Yes i know i have air trapped in it and yes i have read and re-read all advice in the tech section and tried it all but still no luck !!!
Did the thumb over the banjo hole on the cylinder and yes it builds up pressure so figure that is all OK but when i have all the system together it's not drawing ANY fluid down from the resoviour......getting nothing from the blleed nipple either......Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!
So have now thrown in the towel and given up .......the bird is looked away untill my new toy turns up.....A vacum brake bleeding pump , if that doesn't work the bikes going and i'm back to Gixers......
Now where's that bottle of Vodka !!!!!
RANT over ....

....Hope you sort you cylinder OK.....

Aprilia wont but Brembo will.
Take the seals to a (horror) Ducati dealer to get a match - we share a lot of common components with our Italian cousins

Reverse bleed Cornish - with the calliper off and moved so the bleed point at the highest point

Cheers Aladin.......think I’ll be leaving it tomorrow and going for a bike ride of a different nature ( cycle ) before opening that garage door again , it certainly tested me to breaking point today I have to say......
Kit will be here Thursday so by Thursday night it will either be a big YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO.....OR the Vultures can come and get it, piece by bloody piece!!

Gotta disagree with the statement there that Brembo dont sell spares. Got a set for my rear master by going to a Duc dealer.
OK, they wern't in a Brembo box and had Ducati written all over it but they were genuine Brembo seals when unwrapped

iirc there has been a problem historically with brembo supplying parts for an aprilia - may be due to old licensing arguments???
either way, there have been assorted work arounds - ONCE the correct parts had been identified from other bikes. I seem to remember that KTM parts were a good solution as well....

Enquired a few months ago about seals at Speedaway; no problem if you say they're for a KTM

For sale one almost perfectly sorted Falco BUT MISSING THE FU#KING REAR BRAKE.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!
Three days now i've been in and out of that garage each time walking away trying my hardest not to kill either the misses or the kids or set fire to the bike........
I now have the whole rear brake/ pedal / cylinder / new brake line sitting on my bench trying to make it work just to prove to myself that it does and still no luck !! My thoughts to date ( apart from get a new bike ) are ..........i think it's drawing in air from the bleed nipple OR the cylinder is fu#ked. Even got myself a vacuum pump to suck the fluid through and that's not even worked.
I feed the master cylinder with banjo bolt off and thumb over hole but only getting a small amount of pressure and no real build up of pressure ( this is of course only to check it's working !! ) BUT then when i also have the hose on for the vacuum pump on the bleed nipple on the brake when it's all back together even though it's closed you can still see air bubbles moving with vacuum pressure on it BUT no fluid at the banjo bolt on the brake it self..........
Any help or just piss take to lighten the load appreciated as today is the last day before i start having to look at replacing parts ............. DO you really need a rear brake anyway ??....

Oh and anywhere to buy a rear cylinder links appreciated as well ........

I suspect that you will be shopping for a replacement set of seals in the cylinder
you have re annealed the copper washers though? I now routinely replace mine but... also, they do need a girt load of tightening to bite.....

New copper washers as well.......sorry forgot to say that !!.........Was almost at the stage of adding a massive bar to the end of the spanner to get it that tight ..
Sod getting the seals i managed to get a replacement delivered for £20.......will address the old one if this doesn't work.......Not going back in the garage till the parts are here so maybe thursday could be the day ???? Nice day for a ride today as well so as i can't i will just have to go surfing instead !!
