indicator issues

#1 Post by wayno » Sat Oct 06, 2012 5:42 pm

I have put a set of mini indicators on the back of the falco, being aware of the wattage problems I ordered some 10w bulbs. The indicators don't flash now. I put the 23w bulbs and they flash too fast. I'm now going to stick some 15 ohm, 10w resistors in parallel to try and get the 10w bulbs to flash, any of you electrical bods know if this will sort it out?

Try changing the flasher unit. Fairly sure Falco indicators/ flasher unit are a piddly 8w where as most other stuff is 21 w
If you still have standard indicators on the front change the bulbs to 21 w also

Just changed all mine for some with 10w bulbs without any issues. I thought 10w was standard on these?

10w is standard, that's what I put in the rear and they wouldn't flash, I'll try some things tomorrow if I'm not horrifically hungover after tonight

I finally got the resistors wired in, they help, but the indicators still flash too slow, going to experiment with some other sizes tomorrow

Finally sorted it out, if anyone has this issue fitting BA9S 10w bulbs on the rear that don't flash, fit a 22 ohm 7w wirewound resistor (maplin part number L22R) in parallel and it should sort it out to a normal flash rate

Well done on getting it going ...... but this really makes no sense :smt017

Anyway, glad it works now.

I know, it's been bugging me right from the start that the 23w worked better than the 10w replacements.

if you change all 4 indicators its a lot easier to fit a different flasher unit plug and play

It is, but I'm just changing the rears for now, thinking about soemething different for the fronts.
