So when we get our loverly new rear lenses what bulbs do we need?

I assume the clear ones can use red painted normal bulbs but the smoked ones will need something brighter.

I am looking at these on Ultraleds.co.uk........

Anyone know if they will work well?

you can buy red stop and tail bulbs same as the yellow indicator bulbs, dont know if they will be bright enough for the smoked lens though,£18 for one stop and tail led seems alot. :smt102

I have a smoked lens and LED lights and they are very bright, very well visible.
Can take ap picture but the eye is more sensitive to light than a camera lens...
My set up is far brighter than stock, thats for sure.

Offcourse I'm talking about the first gen lens...next gen smokey can be darker or so.

Well I guess it will depend on how dark the smoked lenses are. I suspect the standard filament type bulbs may be a bit dim but have no actual experience here.

As for the LEDs - I believe the prices are for a pair as opposed to £18 per bulb :smt017

Hi Fausto,

Just checked out that site, I want the 1156 - R24 Red LED Bulbs on there, $6.99 each (£3.15). They have a min order of $25!! So I guess a group buy or a couple can order, but, keep it below the £50 for to avoid the dreaded VAT duty :smt013

Let me know what u think.

Warranty yeah rite!

I have the red 30 led version and they are very good, no probs at all. Got them for 10.000km already.
If you want to use the reflector please buy the 24 led version.(6 aiming outwards)
Please take care the difference between 1156 and 1157, I think you need 1157. Not sure, check and check again...
1156 is normal light only, 1157 is with brakelight intergrated......or maybe not... to much Heineken...oh well ZZZZZzzz...zz..z..

Wide or narrow?

:smt017

Will someone please lead me by the hand or is everyone else blind too?

I would go for wide if given a choice as I want them to be seen by as many half blind idiots as poss :smt003

I believe we have a reflector (??) in there so would benefit from LED units that have some leds pointing backwards/sideways. That was the problem with the older LED bulbs. They only threw light straight out so no benefit was gained by having a reflector.

As for where to go - I was assuming it would be easier or at least more straightforward from a UK supplier. I assume Hansie's suppliers (http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/ ... roduct=CAR) are USA? Am I right?
