Been keeping quiet for a while now thinking i could sort it but not having much luck BUT i got a rattle on the bike and it's doing my head in !! :smt013 At first i thought something had come lose but can't seem to see anything obvious. Had the tank up and still nothing.....
It starts fine and nothing happens until i get to around 5 - 6 thou revs then this rattle starts and stays all the way to the red line...........As it's just been Dyno'd i would of thought that they would of picked it up if it was something bad and the BHP was about right for what i've done to it so can't figure it out...

Any ideas from the gods or just any idea would be very helpful .........hoping it's not something bad.. :smt010

I hate to say this but that is like asking how long is a piece of string. Everyone who will answer could give you a completely different suggestion.
It needs to be heard i am sorry to say. The only suggestion i have is for you to take it to someone so they can hear it and give their opinion. You will have to let them ride it (and possibly convert them over to the dark side)

Fair shout Paddyz i sort of knew it would be a hard one to figure out.....will keep looking myself and who knows something may click. Was sort of hoping someone could give me the ideas what some bad noise would sound like and what i should be looking for .......if that makes any sense at all !! :smt017

Could be anything from a bearing on it's way out to a tensioner that's noisy..
Best bet is drop it into a decent garage of an Aprilia/Cagiva background and pray they find something simple.. best bet not to book it and get one of the chaps to just have a listen.. cheaper that way!

Before committing to any works make sure you talk to the guys here first though!

Do you know how to do the Long handled screwdriver stethoscope check?
Do that around the engine and try and pinpoint the area

Rattles are far easier to remove from prams.

Any kid over about 3 months old can do it ............ and many carry on the habit (that's habit, not hobbit ... probably) into later life.

I'd say the problem is due to the rattly thing. Stop that from rattling and you'll remove the problem from the whole bike.
Glad to have been of help.

Are you sure this "Rattle" has just come on or was it there all the time....
My Rotax has a sort of rattle between the Revs you are talking about, but having another falco to compare too.... Its normall...you are not trashing it enough.
Chill and give it some more right wrist and enjoy :smt003

Rattle been there for a while now and was there before dyno ......

Gets well thrashed most rides even though I have 9 points on the license .......with one ban already and guess what for ........speeding !! LOL

Living in deepest darkest Cornwall the nearest Aprilia dealer is only 6 miles away but they're utter shit , next one is Plymouth and guess what again .....utter shit they fucked my Edwards rep up about 3 years ago so would never use them again. So now I’m in to the next good one 115 miles away in Exeter ...... :smt013

Thanks Kwackerz for your idea hadn't thought of that one and will give it a go first...............and was the help I was looking for :smt023

Which leaves D-rider with the sort of response I was waiting for ..... :smt005

Cheers lads .....

Just done some research for you on the subject. Managed to get a video that may help. This one was not one that actually rattles - but some of them do.

There was a science programme about the length of a piece of string can't recall who did it though

Your rattle is your keys in the yoke hitting the same harmonics frequency as the vibration from the engine

There someone has now told its not something serious so you can ignore it and turn the radio up :smt003

if he actually has anything else on the ignition key of course

personally, I think it is a white boot alert - when you get to a certain rev range you immediately start to pose and preen as if you are wearing white boots.....

Easiest way is to ask why there isn't a search option on the forum.
