There's a guy on eBay currently selling aprilia aftermarket chips, anyone bought and tried one?

IMHO
If it is not a gabro chip, or one of the known ones - renegade, dr Rossi etc - leave alone
I could be wrong though

I was thinking the same but thought I'd ask as he's had some high praise on the feedback, trouble is I am Mr cynical and assume everyone has faked it :)

i repeat what I said
if you want an aftermarket chip, its because you have modded and fettled your bike
so - you could go get something off the shelf that luigi thinks will fit ... if not you, then maybe your sister
some of us have the option of certain chips due to what we have done - most do not
if you have a fairly standard bike - and yes that is a novelty in the falco world, then I think a Dr Rossi chip is likely to be ok
if you have fettled more than the wheel rim tape and other such mille owner induced mods, go talk to gabro

There's a couple of non mainstream chips on ebay.. 'race bred for my powerbike, etc' however i remember tales of old whereby certain cheap chips removed the rev limit allowing bikes to rev out and die. This was a while back and sketchy memory of the problems/ points raised and im not saying forza or the others are in any way linked to that..
Theyre cheap, but with eproms such as Evoluzione, Gabro, Rene and the like, you pay for quality and reliability.. and the manufacturer's ability to understand the inner workings of the engines theyre going to control.
It could be that there are some new kids on the block and theyre absolutely amazing, brilliant, best thing since sliced bread.. but.. I dont see many posts in the quite close knit world of Aprilias extolling the virtues of any current eprom suppliers other than Gabro / Dr Rossi..
so personally i'd take that as a target indicator and avoid.. which is exactly what ive done..

I have a streetfighter chip to go with the street fighter exhausts but haven't fitted either so can't comment so don't know why I bothered mentioning it really LOL.
I think really and joking aside unless it was something known or specific to a bit of kit like the exhaust system I would be sceptical maybe try contacting some of the earlier buyers. I wouldn't trust the feedback purely because it tends to be left soon after the purchase so doesn't give a longer term critique

That's why I was asking, I wanted to know if anyone had ran one and what they thought after a bit of use.
Some of the feedback says the chips are a good mod, so must've been left after fitting, but as you say, no long term tests.
Buy the way the guy is also selling Evo airbox kits, and replacement seals for the evo kits if anyone needs a new one.
Based on the photos I'd say he's a yellow RSV R owner so obviously doesn't have the sophisticated taste of us Falco owners (well us fast red Falco owners anyway

)

if he sells evo bits, then ask him if his chip is a copy of the Evo chips... then things become different
If it is a direct copy, then if the money is right, as a straight drop in - yep, they are good

Wow, he's certainly prompt at replying, that was less than 2 minutes
Here's his reply, this may mean more to you lot than it does to me
"Hi
All chips are my own work
The chips listed as ti evo and sp
Are close to the ones aprilia made
But all aprilia chips had issues and also stock ignition timing So in short a waste of money given the price they charged at the time
So mine have advanced ignition and cleaned up and improved fuel tables
The chips change massively with things like my twin map fr 200 chip
As its for a more modded bike that required much more fuel
That's why I always ask what mods the bike has
So I can best match the correct chips
- fenderleft"

I would thank him for his reply and ask how his chip stacks up with a gabro or renegade chip
for 40 quid - probably worth a punt is my gut instinct
may I suggest you search for forza on rsvr.net - that may have the information..... if he has done it for a falco, he will have doen them for milles as well

Ken made some - USA market only afaik and not for very long - they may even have been not advertised / friends only
We chatted on the phone a couple of times a few years back - and the subject of chips came up[/i]

OK fairy nuff. Not ones I've come across.
The one the yanks raved about before Gabro cornered the market was the Factory Pro chip.
Consensus these days is that one is not bad but tends to over-fuel.
I'm sure others can make good chips but with Gabro ones being a known quantity at a good price, nobody is ever going to take the risk.

As I said rare - I think he was planning on maybe selling large scale but I think different states different laws made it hard
