Pin lock and efi

Hey guy's, just got back from a wee run around Scotland again. Did approx 800-900 miles and my back side is glad to sitting on the couch lol
Started off from leaving the ferry in Aberdeen and basicly headed around alot of the back roads. Mainly headed for Knock hill to watch the bike racing, through the trip i ended up in Oban for some of it, what a stunning place :smt001 i'll definatly be heading there again. Thing is, as usuall the weather wasn't the best infact to say it rained would be an understatement :smt012 weird thing is, iv'e had the efi come on in the past before while riding in the wet but this time it decided to come on...on the dry day :smt017 , after having two days of solid rain. Does it actually reduce power when it's flashing? as it didn't seem to affect the overall running of her, it seemed to come on once you were above 55ish and go off if you dropped below that. I'm assuming the usuall culprit sensor in the air duct.

The other thing was my Shoei xr1100 decided to fog up after having two years trouble free riding in the wet, the pin lock didn't seem to be seating right on the visor but i have since learned you need to adjust the little pins to tighten the pin lock onto the visor. I'm going to remove it and refit it but is there any thing else i should do or get, perhaps something to spray on the pin lock?

After this trip i seriously need to balance my TB's check valves etc may even consider a Garbo chip to help smooth things out :smt001

Great trip :smt001 Oh yeah, someone asked me if it was aprilia's own engine in her or was it a Rotax, which made me think i wasn't sure. What would it be aprilia or Rotax ? or is that a silly question :smt017

its a rotax engine

and yes to the efi fault - as i was overtaking a slow moving Ark in the slow lane yesterday, mine started flashing - it did clear afyer 25 miles.....

and same symptoms - ran like a dog above 5000 revs

(And waits for inevitable RAC comments....)

Thanks Alad, i should've known about the Rotax. When he asked me i suddenly had one of those moments of not being sure, i seemed to think i had seen Rotax labelled on the side of the engine but when i looked it said aprilia and thats what made me unsure, who knows where i seen Rotax written :smt001.

I guess the sensor is just one of those things we have to live with :smt001

Cheers :smt001

Last time I reseated a pinlock I just gave the pinlock and the visor a wash in warm soapy water. The pins are eccentric so if you give them a bit of a twist you get more or less squidge against the visor. Sort of a twiddle, pop on, twiddle pop on sort of deal until it sits right.

Yeah just a tweek on the pins will correct it, the nice man at On Y Bike in Bucks did it for me as they were quiet and they are Arai service centre, was fine after that. Hope to do Oban one day...one day when the giant thumb is lifted and it stops raining!!
