Have fitted an 04-07 Blackbird side stand and am very happy with the results. Has the right level of lean and is rock solid, even on uneven ground.
The only mod that is needed is to drill a hole alongside one of the flats of the bolt on the stand. Simple to do and you don't need a special bit either.
Remember to only use the Blackbird leg and use your existing bracket connecting to the frame. Took me about 30 mins to fit and tighten everything up to the required torque and ensure that there was full and easy movement. It tucks up nicely out of the way too and the with the hole drilled to fit the warning switch, your dash will still tell you when it's down.
The images hopefully will help and if I had to do it again would I...absolutely !

Part numbers are the same for 1997 to 2007 bikes that I can see, so it looks like the side stand didn't change over the model run.

I've just acquired a Blackbird stand and fitted it, and I have to say I now believe it's the best option, especially if you've raised the rear ride height. I agree with everything FalcoPete has said on this; all it needs is one hole drilling at 45 degrees to the existing one, and you're good to go. It's not welded tube, it's a one-piece solid casting so should be ideal. Certainly, if Honda built it to support the dry weight of a Blackbird (227 kg) it will support a 189 kg Falco easily.
Prior to the Blackbird stand I had an 2004-07 Fireplace stand, which needed even less fettling to fit, but which is slightly shorter in length and sits very slightly closer to the bike centreline. For bikes with standard or slightly raised ride height, I'd say the 'blade stand is best. For bikes with more rear ride height dialled in, go for the Blackbird stand.

I fitted a 98 blackbird to mine and didn't have to drill a hole, can't remember if I swapped the hole lot or just the stand. All I had to do was shave a bit off the stopper so it sat higher when folded up. Tried a gsxr one but that needed too much fiddling.
