just to add
i like and rate the condo road attacks on the falco - good mileage and good grip in the wet and dry
BUT
please do research tyre pressures here - do not - as a general rule, go for the official aprilia recommended pressures... - 36/42 is a generally accepted starting point for many - some run on less than that.....
oh - the 520 option is not often done

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Similar discussion a while back on a Futura forum - consensus was that 520 probably isn't a good idea - won't last.Aladinsaneuk wrote:Hmmmm
I think even the Mille owners only go for 520 on track bikes
Not sure if I am correct but the torque the rotax puts out may eat the 520 bits....
If you need to lose some weight, a good dump usually works for me

I loved the old R1 advert of the bike outside a burger bar with a sign saying full English brekkie and the tag line
We shaved another 4kg off the bike .... What for ?

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

People go 520 on the ZX9R and that makes quite a bit more power and torque than the Falco. A quality 520 chain is going to be better than a middle of the road 530 chain.MartDude wrote:

Anyway, it's moot as I don't need a chain or sprockets.
Though whats this about dropping to a 15t front? I'll be doing longer distance rides, and usually people go the other way for touring.

As I said in my text
Ride it for a while and see... Some people find the 15 helps while commuting in town - personally I did not do it... But I have a Ducati sport so I learnt to slip the clutch like a pro!

Going to a 15-t front definitely made the Futura easier in town traffic. And, perhaps slightly bizarrely, it improved the fuel consumption slightly - I'd guess through being able to get into a higher gear sooner, and hold a higher gear for longer. I know the Fut is quite different to the Falco (heavier, less power, bit more torque, engine's set up differently - softer cams, different ECU, different fuelling etc etc) but it's still a big grunty V2, so my comments should be applicable to a degree.

I still think, and this applies to any and all who are new to the falco fold, put a few hundred miles on the bike the see what needs adjusting or changing
For me the ONLY exception to that is the sidestand... Change it straight away!

Yes.. when you rap your knuckles when a spanner slips (shouldve used a ring spanner..) you have to swear in broken Italian not broken Japanese
Other than that, sizes shouldnt be much different.. 10mm is 10mm is 10mm.. etc
If this were a BSA Bantam, I'd say otherwise..
Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly
Hmm I speak more Japanese than Italian.Kwackerz wrote:

Ok. I thought it might all be torx, or hex or something like that.
