from fuel's website:
Q. Are these exhausts road legal?A. If you have purchased a UK road legal exhaust then yes, it is UK road legal when the baffle remains in place. The British Standard reference for road use is stamped accordingly on each exhaust. They are not road legal outside of the UK.
If you have purchased a race exhaust which is stamped Not For Road Use - then this is not road legal as it is intended for track use only.
the vast majority of exhausts made for the uk market will fit into that criteria
its only when an exhaust is stamped "NOT FOR ROAD USE" that you have a potential problem.....
funnily enough my "use once a year for mot" baffles do have a BSAU stamp on them....
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

and additional info
the UK allows manufacturers to self certify - ie they make the cans and certify them in house, not through a government agency - there is also a freedom of around 6db i believe that they can play around in
MOT stations do not have decibel meters..... but if a "not for road use" stamp is seen then it should, by rights, fail - BUT if that stamp is covered then it cannot be removed so it therefore cannot be seen....
now onto team filth :)
under the legislation for exhausts, i think there is a maximum penalty of 1000 pounds but NO points.... local plod do liek there 30 quid on the spot tickets though - so that is, at least in the swamps - the most popular outcome
officially, it should be a traffic officer, who has been trained in the use of a decibel meter who does this..... but in todays £ driven police targets I suspect the police canteen lady can also issue the ticket
oh - ride like a twat and they will pull you - ride sensibly - ie, keeps the revs/noise down in the towns, and they leave you alone..... i have not had a ticket on my bike and mine is on the naughty side of very naughty....

cheers Alad, just thought I would throw that in as they were kind enough to reply.
Still waiting to hear from and see pictures of Robbier6's fuel cans.

the video i linked to is good - demonstrates the fuels as opposed to standard - and with and with out the baffles
i do not think the fuel cans are loud even with the baffles out... and certainly not while in transit

Thanks Alad, Robbie, I have seen the video and don't really need to check much more I will be getting the shock done in the spring and at the end of the season will go for the cans.
Decided I will be getting the Maxi carbon look round.
Venhill brake pipe came yesterday, will fit in the spring just before I start riding more less full time again.

No problems with fuel shorties love them also a dee el type polishing nit allegedly does a reasonable job of removing unwanted stamps
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

On my Akras the banding around the end of the can had been stencilled with 'Not for road use'. While it was at Mark's having the new full system made and the cans re-packed, that banding inadvertently got replaced the wrong way round; i.e. stencil facing inwards. Mistakes do happen...
