Welcome to the Madhouse!
You're right about the good value for the money, but don't spend too much time ogling it, you need to get out more mate!
It will feel quite a bit different from the Honda at first, but stay with it and in a few weeks you'll be re-tuned to it and fully converted, twins are addictive and the Falco's one of the best. Might find you don't use the Hornet much though.
I kept my old CBR1000F as a winter bike/general hack, when I got my Falco nearly three years ago and it don't get out much even in winter.

Yeah I think I'm going to take a while to adapt to the power curve. At the moment I can happily crack open the throttle mid corner circa 6/7k and wait for the power to come in... pretty sure that policy on the Falco would have me flying through the air into the scenery!!
I do love my bike, it has a good race can on it and when it gets between 9 and 13k she really starts to sing. However for the first time (due to a car accident in Sept) I've had to commute on her through the winter and all the grime/salt/rain hasn't done her much good.
Looking forward to getting a lovely shiny bike and spending some time laying up the Hooner and giving her a bit of a polish

It's not just the difference in the power, it's where it is in the range that is very different from the Hornet. It's the low down grunt that's addictive but can catch you out. You can ride a Falco pretty quick and never go above 7K if you're not in a mad rush.
From 7k up though it will scream out to the limiter at 10k plus.
Check on your red change up light by the way, you can set it at any revs you want, but it only works the light not the actual rev limiter which comes in between 10 and 11k.

Where's the rev limiter!
I thought twins went higher than 4's on the revs.

Welcome horntrider, nice bike enjoy.
I'm only going to say this once, be careful starting this bike it's easy to flood and you can damage the sprag clutch with any resulting engine kick back, never pump the throttle!

Nah, it'll ripen from green to a lovely yellow colour

They call it mellow yellow.

1) The real rev limiter is in your right hand
2) Er no, the more cylinders you have the more revs you have.So an RCV revs a bit more than a single pot supermoto, an R6 revs more than a Falco.
Actually the Falco revs pretty high for a V Twin, and once up around 7k it goes out to the rev limiter pretty quick.
The change up light can be set anywhere you want it, usually a bit before the actual limit, about 10k or a bit before is probably about right.

Okay, so how do you set the change up light for revs, I loved getting the 'Bird up to about 9-10k before changing gear, but it was a bit of a guess as you really need to look where you're going.
