I recall becoming irritated by that rubber thing at the front of the airbox as it never seemed to line up with both air inlets at once. In the end I gave up and left it in a not quite as snug a fit as I would have liked state. I doubt it makes the slightest difference either way.

The intake hoses are a bit of a pain, but a bit of a wiggle and a jiggle (reminds me of a song) and they should be fine.
