Yes to what they said about fuel cans although if you take the baffles out they become anti social
Guess who forgot his MOT is due DOH
Luggage on the bandit I found that a good sized tail pack a grunge lifestyle choice a tankbag and clean underwear was sufficient
The best packing tip I was given was take the minimum you think you need put it somewhere like the dining room and aim to take at least a third of it out and you should be right

If you are going on the ferry stay with the bike whilst they strap it down and when they don't put the protection under the strap either use an old tea towel or your gloves to protect the paintwork. Towel is best as you can use it to protect your paintwork from bag scratches and to give a quick wipe over if needed. The tunnel beats the ferry hands down IME

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Leave them in a while and they become unmovable .... guess who wanted to hear what they might sound like but has never been able to!

bagster - and baglux... in the main they are well known for a tank cover that acts as a mount for a tank bag

http://www.baglux.co.uk/

they are not cheap - a cover will cost 100 quid and a bag ... well - lots of choice from them depending on size!
the idea is that once you have the bag you want, you keep it and just get a new cover for each new bike.... the covers are excellent btw and protect the paint work - i rate mine highly

re the wolf man - its really easy to fit - and does not use a frame. you fill the bag, and then slide it on to the tail of the bike - it has an adjustable strap to hold that in place. from the front/bottom of the bag there are two straps, one each side - these attach to the foot pegs or frame and you adjust those to make it tight

I like this system as it keeps the weight of the luggage higher on the bike so it feels like you have a pillion - and when correctly fitted you have a brace / seat for your lower back :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I agree but if you want a tank cover for your Falco make sure you leave at least 4 weeks as I ordered one yesterday and they have to be made now as they do not keep them in stock.

By the way the older bags you find on e-bay are tougher than the new ones.

Not really, mine f**ked up halfway through Spain and I've managed with spray. bit of a pain if you're on your own though.
If it works and is set up fine, then it does make life easy, but I've taken mine off and I'm not complaining.

thanks, i looked up the wolfman tail bag, it looks ideal and a fair bit cheaper than the ventura (like half the price)

Tank bags

#23 Post by MartDude » Fri Mar 02, 2012 9:16 pm

If you don't desire the Baglux system, Famsa are pretty good - I've had mine 3 years. Generously sized, adaptable, seem waterproof (so far).

And they do one with its base made specifically for the Falco, so it doesn't interfere with the filler cap.

AFAIK, Winding Roads are the sole UK distributor for Famsa. The chap who runs it - Martin - is very helpful

Strap-ons . .

#25 Post by MartDude » Fri Mar 02, 2012 10:05 pm

. . . (Pete's favourite)

If you're strapping stuff to the bike, Link Straps are much better than traditional bungees. Being flat, they're less likely to dig in & mark paintwork, seat covers etc. Being neoprene (I think), they don't slip as much. And as they don't have metal hooks, which invariably loose their plastic covering, they can't scratch.

They can also be used to stop your trousers falling down . .
