Seen a red one for sale at Keep Biking Ltd in Brackley

Just for the record Alan if it's the one with the Scorpion Exhaust, i was looking at that one September 2009, he would only budge on the price by 200 notes, and if it is the same one there wasn't a seat cowl with it!!

...just had a look, yes that's the same one and still the same price, ie: too expensive for an early red one...for the same price you can get a later black/bronze, black/red one on an 03/04 plate...my advice look around a bit more and try and pick one up with a few more extras (and seat cowl, otherwise you'll struggle to match the colour as they can fade over the years)

Try Pistonheads and Ebay there's usually some hovering around!!

If it's the old snapped downpipes thing I got a set for my ER6 from Sandy Bike Spares on Ebay. If you're swapping them there's a great big thick gasket thing between the downpipes and box that will need swapping too. I rode it about for a few months held together with a coke can and 3 big jubilee clips though.

height to weight ratio

#18 Post by flatlander » Sat Jun 25, 2011 12:50 pm

I have only just acquired a Falco after many years on a Bandit before I compacted my spine I was about your height now about 1-2 " less :( but from my brief experience I would say you are about the perfect height to weight ratio for the bike.

I may be selling mine to buy a later one as I really am quite impressed with them to say the least. You can almost feel the difference in the build quality daft as that might sound. I haven't had anything done yet but the airbox has been deristricted apparently and some mini indicators fitted which to be honest I don't like.

I would be surprised if you didn't find something good about them especially with some of the more straight forward mods that are suggested on here. I am now blinded by the options and the knoweledge so whichever I end up on will most likely only make limited modifications as to be honest the stock model will always be able to outride my abilities even with the blue shack :)
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

actually, as a poor rider myself, the shock change makes a hell of a difference

the standard blue sucks shock feels alright - but as soon as you change it over then you feel a big difference - the whole bike feels more planted and this aids the rider - tbh with my skill level i could not warrent more than a white spring mille shock though
(The ohlins just happened....)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I was only thinking the other day which mods I'd do again were I to get another standard Falco.

Well I'd probably end up doing most of them but my priorities would be:

Sidestand - mandatory
Ohlins shock - the difference it made was phenomenal
OZ wheels - maybe a step down from my BSTs but as far as value for money, these are the business.
15t sprocket - much better for where I ride a lot - commuting
clutch oil jet - good difference for peanuts

Other stuff could wait.

Pretty good list Andy

I would suggest any serviced shock and correctly set up rather than an ohlins but....

Others I would do again - HID and always on dip beam
An for my old back - bars over triple crown

If you do buy it, there's a couple of seat cowls on Ebay
