However most swingarms ex-mille will have been polished to within an inch of their lives and will probably have shed a few hundred grammes along the way.

Stealth polishing to reduce weight.. nice...

I reckon you could get it down to equal quite safely..

And in case anybody is interested...

The RSV white spring Sachs weighs 3.09kg
The Falco blue spring Sachs weighs 2.73kg

So that's a 0.36kg (or 360g) difference.

In total, swapping a Falco swingarm and shock for an RSV swinger comes with a 1.06kg weight increase.

So, we know that andy's bathroom scales lie....

No surprises there then!

And after the week ends scientific proof that the Mille swing arm is 10mm longer than th falco one...

Bearings stay intact Ben?

Yep, bearings were fine. Just packed them with some fresh grease.

The shock needs a smaller schraeder valve - or I'll take 5mm out of the subframe. Not decided yet. Will send the shock off to get it refurbed this week. Then it can all go back in.

Also going to get the larger CO2 ports welded into the headers for setting up the PCIII with individual cylinder mapping.

Things are slowly coming together.

LOL .... that'll be O2 rather than CO2 then ........ bloody sloppy journalism

Sounds good though

If the shock is going to be returned, get a recessed valve fitted then

Simples!

No, can't go for a recessed valve, I'm sure that will make it even heavier. :smt003

Do like I did and keep slicing bits off the schrader valve with a Dremel until the White Spring shock finally fits OK.
A few mm off the the outside threaded part of the valve and a bit off the central pin will make massive weight savings, possibly almost half a gram or so!
Yeh on second thoughts go for the recessed valve!

You've got the whold weight saving thing all wrong !!, Its doomed to failure everybody knows the best way to save weight is cut chunks out of the frame....

Have already spoken to Darren at MCT. He's going to see what he can do with the standard valve - otherwise I'm going to take 5mm out of the subframe and then plate the hole (don't need as much strength cos it'll never take two people again).

I'll see what Darren can do.

when i trimmed hanna's, I took about 3 mm straight off with a dremel - as in on the threaded length and the valve itself

I was NOT able to put a dust cap over it....

You may be OK getting it chopped at the valve Ben. I would try that before cutting the frame.
Many people seem to have got away with relieving the valve very slightly, some have managed to fit straight on without doing anything.
I finally managed to remove enough with mine, but could not have taken off any more.
My biggest problem was that after each slice I had to keep putting the shock back on again to test, then repeat etc., etc..
Finally cleared after I had decided I could not take any more off.
Good luck!

I've already offered the shock up and it doesn't fit with the standard valve, but I'll not be trimming the valve itself. And I want a cap on the valve to stop any crud getting into the valve itself and letting all that lovely nitrogen escape.

Darren may be able to do something, otherwise it's out with the hacksaw on the subframe and then fire the welder up! There's plenty of strength in the subframe, especially when it has been braced around the hole with some welded ally plate.

Hardtail it..

That way the shock doesnt matter.

just maybe add some seat padding..
